Very popular at parties.....Not that I would know.....LOL

I think you can hire the more industrial ones for bigger occasions like weddings...

Went to a very posh do last year and there was a hugh choc fountain with marshmallows and loads of fresh fruits (strawberry, raspberry, and other fruits cut into chunks) they had white choc & plain - with long skewers - had to be careful though as didn't want to splodge my posh frock!! Pelican bibs would be a good idea! Jx

Looks like it's a yes for a Chocolate Fountain then! Have to have something to look forward to at the reception!! lol lol lol Have had a quote for £250.00 for a fountain for 2 hours with unlimited dips of fudge, marshmallows, biscuits, strawberries and profiteroles, so not too bad. Thanks for you replies, Jackie

Good idea might just do that although the money does include a fully trained operator who will run it for you and they supply the special chocolate. A friend of mine used ordinary chocolate and added cooking oil to make it run properly and the fountain blew up!!! left a bit of a mess

I feel cheated,

Never been to a chocolate fountain...does the choocy
come out smooth out of whatever...hmmmm...

Years ago went to a red wine fountain for an old years eve party...
That was something else..

All the little boys were lying underneath...the pond where the angles were...peeing the wine into a pond, that splashed all over the place...

The kids had a ball...but must have had headaches in the morning...

those were the good times...

Lindy ;))))))))))))

I have two choc fountains the smaller household types - not massive industrial ones.

I use one for milk choc at parties we have and the other one I do alcholic choc in for the adults.

They are v messy never put one on your best table cloth and it takes a while to get the nack of melting the right amount of choc to oil.

I have also had them at work for formal functions the great big ones but find people are less ready to get stuck in at formal events than at family and freind gatherings.

A wedding though is a mixture of both so could take off quite well.

Didnt even think about it until we saw one at a wedding fair recently, they did look really nice and we thought it would be a bit of fun, also thinking about getting a big bouncy castle for the adults, why should the kids have all the fun!! Anything to keep Malc occupied!! lol

Hi Jackie,
Yes we the family had one.
Oh so scrummy,
We did hire one though, the bigger ones are better, especially if you are having lots of guests.

Marshmallows/Fresh fruit/Fudge/ sickly but nice.
Oh so delicious, can get rather messy though, its ok if you have 3 hands,2 to hold on to it, and the 3rd to wipe away the choccy dribbles lol!!!!!!!!!

Its a great talking piece, and brings out the humour in people, young and especially the old.
Any age loves it.
Well worth it.

Our son had one at his wedding last week here in Portugal, very expensive but a great talking point and it was really good.

I have some good photos of it.

Saw one once, and it looked good. I've seen them on sale on the shopping channels.

Interesting to see how you get on with one.

Oh my God - have one, my daughter had one at her wedding 2 years ago, it was fantastic. This year she did the same for baby's 1st birthday party. Strawberries, marshmallows, choux buns, little muffins - I'm drooling now!!!!

Very,very messy.

My cousin had one in her house about 15 of us.
By the end of it her hubby was trying all sorts on it..sausges the lot, yuck lol.

I must say it was a novelty and a bit of of fun.

You could always buy one on ebay and have a chocolate fountain hen night :))

I melted some and put it in my fondue set, even that was fun and very tasty.
Belgian cooking choclolate works well.
