TaniaNZ Report 26 Sep 2007 19:48

mine was pretty hideous too, especially when the kids were really small I would hear the motorbike slow down as he came back from the cowshed while he had a good listen and if there was lots of crying he would accelerate off again!!!(he denies it of course)
BUT the one thing he hates is having to pay for things so if something isnt fixed I give it a day or so then sit down next to him with the phone book and say Im just going to ring the plumber electrician etc
(just insert whatever trade you want)hes up and doing it in a flash LOL
We do however pay for a cleaner to come in and do the big jobs weekly,I wipe over the bathroom and toilet most days and he cooks all the meals and looks after the kids 3 nights per week so while I work so we have slowly settled in to something quite reasonable. The kids also have to do a bit now they are bigger...
sort him out now LOL
Threaten to do what i did with the bike it involved places where the sun dont shine also :-))))))

CATHKIN Report 26 Sep 2007 19:38

Catherine , thought you and Olly never argued.!!!
OH isn`t working and I have to tell him what to do when I`m at work --I write it down as I do with tea instructions --everything is made ready to reheat , all he has to do is potatoes or rice etc.
The other night told him to iron his trousers that were already ironed but crushed in wardrobe on a hangar--he put the ironing board up the wrong way with ironstand at left Then stropped when I told him.
But he`s good at dishes , DIY , car maintenance , computer problems etc,

Cyprus

Cyprus Report 26 Sep 2007 19:04

Don't know what to say chuck--us Manchester women are bred to do all housework and the man is the breadwinner ----
Having more than the same trouble myself,Greek men DO NOT do womens work, but the rules havn't changed since women took full time jobs-we are now expected to do 2 full time jobs, and still be receptive to their demands 24/7.
I suppose that's my problem for marrying a Greek guy but I can't help comparing what I have now and what grandmother had.
Hope she was happier with her lot !
Sitting down and talking it through would be a solution I suppose--but men like this do not sit and talk, they stand and shout
happy days and huggs

Sally Moonchild Report 26 Sep 2007 18:45

Now and again Catherine....today I have a heavy basket of washing that has been ironed....I left it at the bottom of the stairs, together with his ironed shirts on hangers.....and what does he take up the stairs....the shirts.....I could have done that.......I took the heavy basket up myself....

I must admit on the whole he is a sweetie...

Reminds me of some years ago - before I went to work I told the OH to: hoover, make beds and clean bathroom. Came home from work and everything I'd told him to do was done.......except the washing up was still piled high in the sink. Why haven't you done the washing up I shouted very crossly at him......cos I didn't know you wanted it done he replied! I won't go into what I said next!! LOL

I use OH money to pay someone to do the jobs he won't, but he freely admits that he would rather it was that way!

And he does work horrendously long hours.
