lol Jenny.. I started the flushes in my mid 40's.. they are not so bad now, much easier, but I still have me *visitor* at 53... which is usually when I flush!! All my GP's have been really reluctant to do anything, as even some of the herbal stuff is contra-indicated!!

Life just isn't fair.. why can't fellas have some of the problems? lol

I must be lucky where I work. 12 women and 1 'token' male LOL
Most of us women are of a 'certain' age, and our boss is a woman in her 60's. We all have our own fans and heaters. I my office there are 2 of us. It is quite common for me to have my fan on, and my colleague to have the heater on!!
A young lad from the temp agency has been working in our office for the past month and is very confused!!
Quite often during the day he will be asked 'Is it hot in here'? If he says 'no' our fans go on LOL (we offer him the heater)
I don't know what we'll do when he goes - who will we ask???

Thank you everyone for all your tips. I will keep a copy of them to refer to once I have decided that it is the menopause that is causing these hot flushes. I am not seeing the Doctor again till probably middle of November when my scan results and other test results come in. I will be able to ask about these hot flushes then. I didnt have hot flushes last time I saw her.

I don't want to take things if I don't need them.

Til then I will just have to wait and see what happens. If they get worse I can always make another appointment with my GP.

Thanks again for all your kind words and help

I have heard that something called Red Clover works for the flushes. Get from herbalists.

Jane if you are surrounded by males, just say I am going through the menopause!

They'll probably turn scarlet and leg it!

I swear by evening primrose, either that or I am lucky and just 'glow' as I call it now and again.
It does take a couple of months to kick in though and you have to take it everyday.

If you google eve prim you will see it is good for a lot of thing's so it is bound to help..something lol.

I hope youre right. There is a lot of bugs going around at work so it could be that. Usually though when I get a bug I only get a red rash. No sign of a rash yet. Keep my fingers crossed that is all it is.

I must go now and start getting tea. My OH should be home soon.

Thank you everyone for your help. Time will tell.

All the best

Hi Jane
You should try Bowen therapy. After about 3 sessions they stopped completely for 6 months, so I went back & had 1 more session & got rid of them for another 12 months & no medication. (It's something to do with the alignment of the coccyx I think)
Worth every penny (or pound!) Use a registered therapist - find one near you on the internet

Jane, I know some will not agree with me, but!!

It is something we go through.... like childbirth.... just do it. Don't worry about it and don't think of it as an issue.
WHEN you need to go to the doctors... THAT'S when to think about it.

You wont be like your mum, we are all different.

happy flushing.... or not.... ;-0)

That sounds good Kitty but I don't think I will get away with it. I am slightly outnumbered by males.

I reckon you're more likely to be coming down with a bug.. they can give you fluctuating temperatures for a couple of days before they come out properly. Hubby tells me half his workplace have come down with it, and I know Rach wasn't well at all last week..

Take care

Hi Glenda

I really do hope this isn't the big M just yet.

I don't want to rush out and buy things just yet in case its not . I have to have a few more tests done first. Surprisingly my GP is not testing for hormone levels just yet as she says the results are unreliable so she wants to eliminate other causes first. This sounds a bit backwards to me.

Of course you could always do what my Mum used to do.......

frantically open all the doors and windows even in winter, then say

"isn't it hot in here?" while glaring at everyone in case they dare say no!

Bless her
