When I worked for a chocolate factory in tottenham, we used to make/pack Easter eggs in December.

Somewhere Ive a picture of me on our last day, wrapped in the xmas decorations we used to be allowed to put up , with mini egg boxes on my maching as we were packing them !

I've done most of my shopping too. I have got all the presents for extended family plus cards and paper.

I only have to get for those in my own house, plus food now.

I couldn't afford to do it all in December. I have to pick things up as I see them during the year, spreading the cost.

Well

We stepped off the plane from Mallorca on Tues 28th Aug, the next day we went into Harlow town to be greeted with a shop decked out for Halloween.

I could have cried.

Mind you, The day after we broke up for the summer holidays, it was announced in most stores "Back to school".

It was ridiculous buying items especially shoes which your child could grow out of them during the six weeks, and during the fortnight we were away Kyle grew half a shoe size more than he was just before we left.
He also went up a polo shirt size and outgrew his shorts just a tad in that time.

By time we returned home, it was difficult to buy anything in the sizes we wanted.

Same goes to before our holiday, I wanted to buy Connie sandals, went out mid july to get these from Clarkes to find they had very limited stock as they had boots and school shoes in to sell !
Again no point in buying 6 weeks early for a growing child for shoes as you cannot predict an exact fit (width and length ) grrrr !

My daughter went to buy a birthday card on Friday, and apparently the shop was full of Christmas cards. I blame global warming myself :)

We get lots of people comment after we have put Christmas shop ( usually 1st weekend in Oct) about how early it's in store, but I always say, " if you are paid monthly there is only 2 pay days untill Christmas and usually the November one is used to purchase the food and drink."

I refuse to be 'sucked' into all the commercialism that surrounds what is supposed to be a 'Christian' timeof the year.... I generally start my shopping/cards in the second week of Dec.

When I worked in the greeting card industry, I used to have our card launch in Jan to sell to the shops .A t our Christmas do in Dec , we saw the following years new designs .
Christmas seemed to be most of the year!

Over here nothing starts happening for ages, then, November, the sweets and toys go out.

Forgive me ................. for I am no doubt virginal in the ways of nativity celebrations.

But I have long been under the impression that seasoned Ladies do commence their preparations for the next Yuletide within days of the previous one !

Or am I dragged from my slumbers on Boxing Day under false pretences ?
