And did you know that some native New Zealand species of earthworms can reach 30 cm (one foot) or more in length and can have a diameter larger than your middle finger. Michelle |

Aww Michelle1 - thats nothing! Why over here in Australia we have the giant Gippsland earthworm - it gets to 2 metres long!! |

I have a Wormery; I keep them as pets! I feed them uncooked kitchen waste, and they produce liquid fertilizer and compost for me. I have three large plastic trays, one on top of another. and the liquid comes out of the bottom layer, through a tap. They work their way up to the top tray, and I then have the bottom layer as potting compost. I wish I could just harvest garden worms and add them to my 'farm'! Joanna |

I have made my 3 worm farms out of old Council wheelie bins - just need a few drain holes in top and bottom - does a great job - digests all kitchen waste and autumn leaves etc. |
