Alert in Belgium Belgium and dutch police are on high alert, following the sighting of a girl that “strongly resembles” Madeleine McCann, the english 4-year old girl that disappeared from a resort in Praia da Luz, Lagos, 92 days ago. A child therapist told police she saw a girl she believes to be Madeleine in the company of a couple in a restaurant in the belgium city of Tongeren, on the dutch border, near Maastricht. According to the online edition of english newspaper ‘Daily Mail’, the local authorities have emitted a national alert and released a drawing of the man who was with the child. He is approximately 40 years old, 1.80 m tall and speaks dutch. The woman is approximately 25 years old, has dark hair and a tan, and speaks english. The child was nervous and the three left in a black Volvo, a recent model with a dutch license plate that starts with the letters VUV. Olegario de Sousa, the spokesman for PJ, told CM that no official information was received from the belgium police. PJ inspectors were yesterday in Praia da Luz for diligences. Mr and Mrs McCann have gone on a trip to Spain.

Wouldn't it be brilliant if this is a true sighting and she is found. Wasn't there a Dutch connection early on in Luz? I seem to remember a woman friend of Robert Murat was Dutch. Linda

The only Dutch connection that I can recall is that Gerry and Kate McCann used to live in Holland. I think that Robert Murat's girlfriend was actually German.

Yes, it is the second report of a possible sighting in Belgium. On June 1st a Belgian couple saw a child with a couple outside the cathedral in Liege, thay called her name and she turned round to look at them. As reported in the Daily Mail this morning.

I do hope they find that little girl. her poor parents must feel as if they are just existing rather than living.

The parents of missing Madeleine McCann are taking the search for their daughter back into Spain as they mark exactly three months since her abduction. Gerry and Kate McCann will travel from their base at Praia da Luz in Portugal to Huelva, the capital of Andalucia, where they will put up posters of the four year old across the city. Their latest trip comes as reports surfaced of a sighting of Madeleine in Belgium. According to reports, police in Belgium are taking a sighting of a girl fitting Madeleine's description seriously and have released an identikit drawing. According to Sky News in belgium they have the bottle that the child drank from so they may be able to check the DNA - Here's hoping......

The parents have gone to Spain on an Awareness campaign.not a holiday trip........

Let's hope if it was Maddy they find her quickly. I wonder what will happen to all the money the Mccanns have raised since she disappeared? I hope it is used to help other parents whose children have gone missing.

Andy, you are probably right. How many little girls are there with blonde hair that look like Maddy? I saw a girl y'day in Sainsbury's car park that was like her. I had a good look and it wasn't!!

Shirley-Ann, Perhaps this may answer you, Brain Kennedy retired head teacher and gt uncle to missing Madeline,a statement----regarding the fund, Quote 'We're going to need it,there are big bills coming in for things we've produced,for travel.and accomadation whilst Gerry and Kate are out there, They are not wealthy and theres no we could carry on without it', Responding to critism that the Mc anns would not have had so much help if they wernt doctors---''Its true ,we have friends we could call on that others may no have,and we used them,we called in favours,' 'Our view is that any parent where ever they are ,whatever they do should get the same publicity as Madeleine -has and if we can do anything for others through the fund then we will,,,,,,' ___________________ Un-quote, Personally I dont care if the whole fund has to be spent on this cause,if one little baby/child its returned in a sound ,healthy state to its rightful parents then every penny has been well spent,,,

I agree, but I think earlier and Kris may know, is that the fund money is to finance them and only when Madaleine is returned, will any of that money be used to finance any searches etc etc for other missing children. If I am wrong, I apologise. Alot of their traveling is, I believe, via Peter Green's private Jet ie at his expense?? Again, if wrong, sorry. I just hope the money is used for other missing children and not for the sole purpose of the Mccanns.

as ive said on a previous thread,i would,nt have gone to phone police ,i would have most certainly hung on to her and screamed the place down.i dont imagine those that had her would stick around do you.i wounder if its another bluff.x
