I am married to an Irish man, and after almost 60 years he still has his accent. I love it. The first time I met him I could not understand what he said, his accent was quite unique to me! LEITRIM My friends , also Irish both have different accents. One comes from accross the bridge from where my OH lived, and the other comes from KINSALE. Both lovely accents. I love the LIVERPOOL accent.... don't know why but I do. and I still speak a smattering of German. Deanna X

The Midland accent or Brummie as most people call it is actually Chaucer's English that is why Black Country folk can understand Canterbury Tales. Pat

You know I quite like the northern Irish accent-not the Ian Paisley heavy accent though-it's very musical. Same with the Italian accent you get different one's like Frankie Detorri has a very Southern Italian accent and Northern Italy is very different. catherine xx

Lived in Liverpool all my life but I hate the scouse accent I cringe everytime I hear it. When I was in the Army my mates wouldn't believe I was from Liverpool. I really like the Irish and Welsh accent myself.

Keith, My youngest married a lovely chap from Cardiff all the family originally came from Liverpool. We had a translator at the reception!! Scousers do make me laugh (in a nice way). Mind you I have to ask him 6 times what the hell he is on about when any word contains a double o i.e. cook, but he takes the ragging in good spirit. Sue

Added by Sue Moffett on 03/08/2007 13:48:59 Catherine, I can get by in a few languages, German, Spanish, French and Italian BUT I wish I could speak something more exotic, too old to learn now. The British accent that always makes me smile is spoken by anyone from Bristol. I have a scouser working here and he always makes me laugh. No matter whether he is joking around or being serious. Sue i told you not to tell them
