I had one on my neck. It did feel strange going in the tunnel, but it was okay. I had ear thingies on which they played music in order to drown out the noise of the machine. You could turn up the music really loud. You wll be fine.

Margaret, all I can say is..... in your heart of hearts (having been on the 'other side'), you know it won't be soooo bad !!!! Wishing you all the best though, having watched my mom go through two recently... she's still waiting on the results of the 2nd one. Hope all goes well for you.... try to keep calm!! I know it's hard!! Laura.

i've had one........ nothing to be scared of, honest ! hardest part for me was having my head pinned down ( it was my head they were scanning), and just wanting to move it all the time to get comfortable. it is very loud, but they do talk to you all the time, check you're ok, tell you how long is left, etc if i had to do it again, no problem.........

I've had one, but it was in open scanner so it wasn't claustrophobic, I was still nervous though. I had my shoulder scanned and it took about 20 minutes and as somebody else said they do tell you how long is left. Let us know how you get on, I know you will fine. Sue

Margaret, I had one a few weeks ago and honestly it's nothing to worry about. Just closed my eyes and then opened them again when I was in there! The hardest part was having to keep still. Good luck, I'm sure you'll be ok.

Morning Margaret, I had an MRI earlier this year - mine was to the chest area so I had to lay face down with my boobs through a slot on the table! It was quite a lengthy process - about 45 minutes and I had to lay very still, I also had to have an injection of something in my arm towards the end. I was allowed to take someone in with me (my daughter in my case). My MRI wasn't in a tunnel as such, more a thing like a donut, so my whole body wasn't inside. I didn't find it scary at all, just a bit uncomfortable not being able to move for so long! Try and relax, it will soon be over, I'll be thinking of you! Dee x
