I have just had to replace a light bulb in the lounge room and now the room is so much brighter. When I was working in a hotel in London back in the late eighties it was always me perched up on ladders replacing lightbulbs (most had covers that had to be screwed off as well) and do anything else that required someone to be up a ladder as it seemed everyone else in the staff was afraid of heights. I can change a plug, it was third form science here and have helpded rewire at least one house and put new telephone and electric sockets in here. I have put together things like shelve units etc that have required assembling. Then there is all the hammering, drilling, using of the crowbar, screwdrivers, bandsaw etc when Dad and I have been replacing my kitchen bench tops and sink, decks and boundary fences. Don't have Radiators so have never bleed one. Michelle |

Lol Maggie, a straight line in this house would be a first! Don't think the builder had a spirit level or a plumb line when he put up the walls or door frames. rosex |

Thanks Maggie, thats what I thought really. If the man that is supposed to be doing it this week doesn't turn up I think I might have to buy a jig-saw! Rosex |

Rose, I would use a drill to make a pilot hole or two, or more, then a jig-saw to make the hole. maggie |

LOL Maggie ,Yes bought a long piece of worktop and only need about half. I can plumb in the washing machine ok. Had to cut and seal the water pipes when I took out the old sink and taps following a leak, but haven't got the proper tools for cutting the worktop to put in the sink and have been waiting now for 10 weeks for people who have promised to come and do it! You don't realise how much you use the sink till it's gone! rosex |

I can do, and have done, all three and change the wheel on a car, but hey, if a man's mug enough to offer, let him do it, I say! Oh and I'm in Wales too. |

I can do all those - and wallpaper, make my own bookshelves, lay laminate flooring, change the engine in a Morris minor (need a bit of muscle help for that), I erected a shed that said '3 men needed for the construction' LOL Laid a patio, carpets, vinyl flooring etc. Rewired lamps, put together flat packs connected my computer, even set the channels on their TV's for 2 men!! That's what being a single parent with no money makes you do!! However, my younger daughter (24) claims she doesn't even know how to iron - no I don't do it for her - she's known as 'the wrinkly one' - referring to her clothes, when used towards me the expression takes on a different meaning! lol Next project is to connect an outside tap. maggie |

Of course candles are much kinder to the environment. I know how to change one of them - and how to light one! |

Re bleeding a radiator you just need to buy a little 'key',attach it in the right place, turn it a few times until you can hear the air hissing out, then when the liquid begins to trickle out, turn the key the other way! lol Rosex |

David - in 'ye olden tymes' electrical implements often came minus plug, you had to wire it up yourself! |

David, I have changed plugs, perhaps where the wiring has come loose etc,or bought an old lamp that needs rewiring. Have you never had to do that? Rosex |
