aul, I knew with all 3 of mine what I was having. I dont think it spoilt anything when the baby was born. Ultimatley you look forward to having the baby, Not knowing what sex it is. My friend wanted to know the sex of her baby but her partner didn't. When she went for the scan her partner couldn't make it. She wasn't going to ask the sex, but when she was asked if she wanted to know, She couldn't refuse. Curiosity got the better of her. She found out she was having a girl. She didn't tell her partner that she knew she was having a girl. When deciding names, Her patner was coming up with some really horrid names like Sherman!, So she made a deal with him that she would name it if it was a girl and he would if it was a boy! Baby is now 6 years old and dad still doesn't know her mums little secret! Pat |

got to admit when i was pregnant with the twins, i'm really glad i found out. I wanted twin girls, idential as well. And had visions of dressing them in pink frilly dresses etc... yes i know daft. When tehy told me they was both boys, I cried and cried even the radiographer asked if i was ok!!!!!!! But I think if they'd told me when i'd just given birth I'd have said no take them away I'm expecting twin girls!!! as it was i was ready for them and while i suffered PN I think i'd have suffered a lot more if i'd found out at birth. And despite knowing, the sex of my youngest I didn't buy blue, just in case. The blanket Nan knitted was pale green. And we didn't chose a name until after he was born. I was sat in the bed having just had him saying well what shall we call him????? |

We did...because we wanted to paint the bedroom, choose a name, buy the clothes etc. I hate calling the baby 'bump'! |

I asked for the sex of my third child, however my hubby didn't want to know so I didn't tell him. I must admit it's a nice surprise when you don't know. I wasn't bothered what I had as long as the baby was alright. |

I had one surprise and one I knew. I loved both. WIth the one we knew it was because of having had problems I didn't want any more surprises. It was lovely to know, to buy things and best of all the baby had a name that she was greeted by even before she was fully born. Good luck with the scan whatever you decide. Jacky :-) |

well, everything's fine, all moving and ticking as it should be. i was adamant i didnt want to know, then when she said do you want to know i said 'ok then!' (wifey wanted to know all along it was me that was unsure). anyway, the midwife then said she thinks she saw boy bits earlier but she'll just double check, then couldnt see anything! so basically we are none the wiser! lol! and to be honest i'm quite glad about that! thanks for the replies and well wishes xx |

I didn't know mine, not sure if I could have then. I would not want to know. My son and his wife wanted to know with their second one. Reason being they had a boy allready and thought if it was another one, they wouldnt have to get a bigger house so soon Saying that they picked up a problem on the wee ones kidney which they might not have known about so soon if they hadent been looking for 'thing's' lol They didn't tell us but I guessed another boy from the start. I asked with both of mine, mainly because I did not like the idea that the person doing the scan might know something about my baby that I didn't!!! They always say they are not 100% sure, so we took it with a pinch of salt, but they were right both times. It did not take anything away from the birth- the 'surprise' of the pain of labour (the first time round anyway) was quite enough on the day!!! |
