Hi I can confirm what Shelli told you earlier. I could not post on this board called the Guest board even though I was a guest. Strange old world isn't it?! I can only write this now coz I am now a fully fledged member

Well, I have just registered under my boyfriends email address and unless I pay I cannot use any of the boards not even the tips board or records board. you can only read and you cannot ask for help. What a load of stupid rubbish that means its not worth using the site if you cant use any of the facilities. I thought GC would have come up with something better than this. Im really digusted now.

I had been trying to post a thread dawn - I am doing the birthday for June just now and it wouldnt let me do one - so added to see if I could - and then deleted - and NO - I am NOT the phantom nudger - I woke up about 10 minutes ago trying to breathe

Pat

Pat Report 20 Dec 2005 02:52

Can someone PLEASE tell me how the phantom nudger finds these very old threads??? For the life of me I can't work it out !!! Someone once told me that if you look at the bar across the top the Internet one you will find a number take note of it and it can be keyed into Genes. Anyway this thread was nudged before I went to read now I am back after reading and still wonder why this thread? Pat x

Right adding again - and not deleting. When I was reading the thread I couldnt work out what changes there had been - it has been nearly 2 years since it became like it has on the boards - then it clicked on me to check the date of the thread - I did delete the last post I made - at about 2.25 am as I had used the thread to see if I could add to the boards as I was struggling to post the birthdays for June - as I said there was nothing sinister - The only way people would be able to find these threads is maybe using key words or even the thread number - but like everyone else I am left wondering - why would they want to do that. and p.s. got my caps back in headings -

I got caught out too, starting trying to understand the problem mentioned and then realised the date this thread was started. It's pathetic that someone nudges these threads - I am confused to start with so this just makes life even more confused for me!! NIght all.

I wonder if the person that nuged this thread is honest enough to admit it?

Pat

Pat Report 20 Dec 2005 03:50

Ron in all the time I have been here through the early hours not once has a nudger admitted nudging the very old threads this one is from 2004!!! I have been around many other people who have nudged recent stuff to answer a query or just check whats happening but really cannot understand a very old nudge but more worrying is how the thread is found!!! Nigh / morning Pat x

Pat It's a silly thing to do. Who ever did it should at least try and say why they nudged it. But guess they never will. Ron.

I know it's perfectly possible to get very old threads coming up if you type in certain words to find threads you want to refer to from the past. It's then very easy, if the site happens to be 'playing up' for those threads to suddenly appear on the Board. This is EXACTLY what happened a few months ago, when a thread concerning 'Marion from Merseyside' appeared on the Board, apparently nudged by me posting 'Gaynor Bear' on it. I'd been looking for a completely different thread which was nothing to do with that Marion, when that particular thread appeared. The screen suddenly went blank, so I thought it had disappeared. The next thing I wanted to look at was the GB Relay thread, so I typed 'Gaynor Bear' into the search box. Hey Presto! Suddenly the old thread about Marion appeared on the Gen Board, showing me having posted the words 'Gaynor Bear' on it!!! I had no intention of posting that or reviving that particular thread - it just happened! The fact that that thread appeared seemed to cause a panic and upset certain members, but I had no idea why it had appeared, and I was certainly NOT (as I said at the time) responsible for it's appearance. As usual, my complaint to GR about this incident went unacknowledged, let alone answered. CB >*|*<

I came on last night and saw this thread, and when I read I had answered I was very confused, then realised it was from way back, when I read last night there was a few messages from a female that asked who had nudged it, as she thought it was a new one so added to it. She wanted Rons email address as this was her last day. Anyway looking back now her messages are not there. So I am presuming that she nudged it and I think it is the same one that has been sending nasty emails. I am probably totaly wrong as always.

I got caught out by this thread, didn't look at the date & messaged Ken to see what the problem was. I think he was a bit bemused by my concern. I also saw the now deleted thread & wondered when I saw Lynda's thread this morning if it could be her. This person announced a couple of weeks ago that she was leaving & I got the impression she was waiting for everyone to say please don't go, but it didn't happen. That's probably why the nasty emails, but I have no idea why specific peeps have been targeted. Good ridance to bad rubbish. Vivienne
