I have a Thread on the Records Office Board offering lookups. There is a long list of the items I have. I put a BIG notice in CAPITAL LETTERS telling people to read what I have before asking for a lookup. For example I have the Kent 1841 Census. I have had people asking me to look for people who were not born then. I have had people asking me to look up Parishes which are not on my list. I think I give up enough time looking for the things I can find and I AM GETTING FED UP WITH BEING ASKED FOR THE IMPOSSIBLE. If it continues I will give up doing lookups at all.

Jim, You would think they could do a little research of their own before asking what is not being offered! Don't give up yet, Jim, I'm sure some genuine requests will come your way and be grateful for your kind offer. Kathy

Grampa Jim Because they see the magic words 'census' or 'Gloucestershire' or whatever and jump in because they are excited. What's equally irksome is when you reply to a plea for help with some info and the person answers not with 'thanks very much' but with 'can you tell me...' and then proceeds to ask another question which you have already answered. I would like to take you up on your offer of Rendcomb parish records but need to find out more about who I want looking up first. You will help me, won't you? nell

Hi Grampa Could I ask for a look up please. I don't know where they were born so it could easily be one of the areas that you have. There names were Smith but I don't know how old they were. Any information would be gratefully received but please don't be long as I am anxious to get on with my tree. Sorry - I couldn't resist :)))) Chrissie x

I don't know Jim. I guess they get a bit excited and see the part of the thread that relates to them and forget to check the rest. It's a bit like telling children 'Don't walk on the grass' they only hear the bit they want to hear and filter out the instruction 'don't' which is why they go on the grass! Does that make any sense? Daisy :))

Hi Jim, I sort of gave up a while ago. Fed up with spending my money on 1837 lookups and not even getting a thank you. Then seeing the same names asking for more and more 1837 look ups - if they need that many why not buy their own credits? And also getting 'impossible' requests for look ups from the CDs I have listed on George's thread. I'm on the Look Up exchange for some Welsh counties and the people who ask for those look ups have done some basic research of their own first. Sorry to moan - bad day. Gwynne

Jim Judging by your replies on the Records Board you are greatly appreciated, so I would stick with it on that basis alone. Daisy
