Can't because I'm too anaemic. However, I'd like to say thank you to you and everyone who does because without you my eldest daughter would not be here today. She had to have a blood transfusion aged 8 weeks - the worst time of my life. Daisy

I used to donate, but like so many others due to a medical condition, or to be truthful, the medication taken because of it, I am now no longer required. I have A Neg blood, and used to go to the centre to donate by apheresis, where, as Bev described, they take the blood out, centrifuge it, keep the plasma and platelets (Needed for clotting problems) and give the rest back to you. I went every 2 weeks, so the points build up quite quickly. I eventually got a badge, with 100 on it, and a Wedgewood plate, very nice but not the sort of thing you could put the cakes on for Sunday tea. I really would urge anyone who can donate to do so, Blood donors may have a limited time to donate as we get older and iller, so young healthy donors are so important. I work in a Blood transfusion Lab, We get through so much of the stuff, It really is needed. Keep up the good work everyone! Suex

I used to give blood and gave ten pints over a number of years, but it always used to wipe my energy out for two days, and when my husband left and I had to cope with the children alone, I realised that I could not manage to do it and also care for the children, I had to Prioritise, just one of my life regrets Linda P

I tried it for a time but even though I'm B- , having to stop me fainting afterwards was too much effort for it to be worth it to them.
