Feeling chuffed today. I've given 25 pints (not all at once lol), and now i've been given a silver award. I've got A-Neg (I'm not asking for anybody's). Does anyone donate blood?

I have an unusual red cert issued to blood donars in 1953 for the Cornation Year. I had to stop giving blood when I developed a medical condition. Bridget x

Used to when I was in England. They won't let me here in the USA because of the fact that I've lived in the UK and they're scared to death of the risk of CJD. Congratulations on donating so much!

I did for years and then last year they bought a new rule out that if you have had a blood transfusion since 1987 you could give anymore due to BSE. Had one when i had my daughter in 88 after a c section so can't give any more Jan

On the pack that i was given, the info regarding BSE said after 1980. They hope if possible to change this at a later date.

Well done Allan......xx Last friday I sat all day with my big sister... She has just finished her chemo and feeling........erm....whats the word?....oh yeah! sh*t!!!! She had to have three units (bags) of blood. Without you lot giving your own blood, dread to think of the thousands of people that would have to suffer more than they should..This took 2 hours per bag. Strange thing was....I offered to go give a pint. I was told to look in the yellow pages!....damn shame as I was sitting there all bloody day!!! Gerri x

I have given blood on three occasions and each time I either fainted/nearly fainted which made me think it wasn't a good idea. My brother and my mother both used to give blood though so we've done our bit. nell

I gave blood 5 times a year for nearly 10 years until they changed the conditions. As I lived in the UK for more than 6 months between 1980 and 1986 I'm not allowed to give blood anymore. (I live in continental Europe). A friend of mine now lives in Australia, and he says the same. Funny though, they don't want my blood, but they will be happy enough to use my organs. I've made a form which the possible recipient will have to sign before he/she gets my organs, making them aware that I wasn't allowed to give blood, and pointing out the possible dangers associated with my liver/kidneys/heart etc.
