blackbirds often sing just as getting light..and always first birds looking for food:)...i have even put outside light on for them:)..this year there are so many...my fave birds:) |

But seriously Terence the Bird man... There are parakeets in Hyde Park....Where have they come from? Someone said they were bought for the film The African Queen and they let them go when the film was finished. There are HUNDREDS all over London. BC |

Okay I have been reading all the messages but am now confused as to what is best for the birds! Can you give me some tips on food/stuff to leave out for their nests etc. Thanks Bev x |

most house food is good for them..also wild bird seed...dry bread..breakfast scraps..:):)..different birds will eat differently..starlings will eat owt...good things for nesting...dog hair..hay..straw..wool..bits of string.. |

Just been out with some left over ham and checked the water. When l make the bird mixture l don't add melted fat - l use: Digestive biscuits Suet (shredded) Bread Porridge Oats Cheese Birds Pea Nuts Birds seed ( l now buy seperate packs of different seeds!!) Bung it all in the mixer and feed it to the birds as a dry mixture. l also get the fruit and insect feed for song birds, this l usually sprinkle on the table. They have bought fat balls as well. My neighbours threw out an old small bird table on Wednesday - guess who's got it now!!!!! - yehhhhh me. One of the 3 legs is rotten but otherwise its in good nick and will be great for the smaller birds:o)))))) jude sarf wales |

LAST YEAR WE MOVED TO OUR OWN HOUSE AFTER LIVING IN A APARTMENT I LOVED FEEDING THE BIRDS I WOULD SIT THERE AND WATCH BUT THIS YEAR I CANT FEED THEM AS WE KEEP GETTING RATS WE LIVE NEAR THE COUNTRYSIDE THIS HAS REALY UPSET ME WE HAVE HAD PEST CONTROL A FEW TIMES BUT HE TOLD ME NOT TO FEED THE BIRDS I AM SURE THEY ARE COMMING BACK TO MY GARDEN FROM LAST YEAR LOOKING FOR THE BIRDTABLE AND FEEDER |

We only have glaucus gulls,they are massive and can well look after themselves.We have a plague of them Rose |
