Lucia To answer your question I don't think it would, Terrorists have one aim and one alone to destroy what they see as the enemy, it is known that young people are especially targetted by these groups as the young are more inclined to be less apprehensive and (the total opposite of you) question the motives behind the atrocities they commit. The other point raised just now by someone else here I have to say this, to take one recent case of a horrific murder and use that for selective death sentence is wrong. Where I live they got rid of the Death Penalty for all but those who killed Policemen, That is even worse than widespread Capitol Punishment. Pat x

lucia, i respect your view,but if you download the court transcripts,you will see,the poor child was so cruelly treated,over a long period,culminating,in torture,malnutrition,sexual abuse,and hypothermia,leading to a slow painfull death....where are the guilty? in a warm prison,and receiving three meals a day!..at our expense. bryan.

BTW, Are any of you religious? I've always thought that if you were religious than you would be against capital punishment. I'm not religious myself, Lucia :-)

Again I say that is selective Capitol Punishment who is to say this murder was more horrific than another and proclaim selective Capitol Punishment is the right course of action. The taking of life by the State is wrong it is Murder too. Pat

Lucia, I agree with you, I am not religious I always find it strange that many religious people believe it is right to KILL!!! No matter what the religion. One of the Commandments of the Christian religion states 'Thou Shall Not Kill' yet many Christians believe in Capitol Punishment?. Is it right to follow the bible and have an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth? How about thieves to have their hand chopped off? All these performed by States, these are religious States, who are supposed to act for the people!!! NO not in my name, it is not right for a civilised society to behave like that. My opinion. Pat x

Where do we stop the not killing? We are quite happy to have an old well loved pet 'Put out of it's misery', There are negotiations in progress at present to try to get Euthanasia legalised. Fox hunting is now illegal but other ways of keeping them down are encouraged. Yet we want to keep a dangerous criminal who we know is capable of cold blooded murder safe and snug for however long he lives? It really doesn't make sense to me. I think religious people who agree with a state-sanctioned pre-meditated killing (as I put it) are not truly religious. I think that there was some confusion in the translation of the bible and that commandment should actually read 'Thou shalt not murder' and I would class Capital Punishment as murder. I don't believe in 'an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth' retribution and I think that the bible is such a big book that you could take out any quote to justify any of your actions (if you know what I mean!). I definetely agree that the death penalty is something which doesn't belong in a civilised world. I'm shocked that America as a world superpower would allow such a backward form of punishment. Yes Definately A life for a life If found 100% guilty, or if they admit to it, Now a days they are put in jail 3 meals a day Television, visitations etc, while there victim lies in a grave, or their ashes lie somewhere. Wheres the justice in that

Lucia Amazing how so many Americans proclaim to be Christian, and those who serve on death row for so long, years and years George Bush as Governor of Texas signed more execution notices in that state than any Governor I believe he is now a Methodist. castration was used on SLAVES in America, another form of punishment was the removal of tongues these serving as punishments as well as raping the women and children of course. It is a pity really that there does not seem to be any help offered to those who know they have a tendency towards, say, child abuse, but are constantly fighting against actually doing it. Like David said. Some people are too weak to stop themselves and then are villified when they cannot help themselves. Where are the voluntary safe places with proper counselling and support?

Hi, Execution im afraid is the only language these people understand.. at the end of the day why keep these people at the tax payers expense living a life of luxury. I have only been in the USA for 8 months and some of the Americans I have spoken to are frightened to travel into their own capitol city because of these terroists. Life should mean Life. Debbie
