only have an engagement ring at present. Jam paid £30 for it and then last year when we went into the shop i told him i'd never seen my ring for £30 and he said thats cos it wasn't £30...the price he should've paid was £60 but he knew the person who served him so got a discount...of course warren james are all half price jewellery anyways so the ring is actual worth £120...i nearly fainted when he told me but now he's upset cos since having baby i can't wear the ring so its on a chain round my neck

My engagement ring cost my (now) husband a months wages back in 1969 - £29. Not H Samuel, but a shop in Nottingham called Poyser's. Interestingly they gave us a present with the ring - a set of playing cards - what did they think we were going to do on our honeymoon!! My wedding ring was, I think about £7 - I still have it, but can't get it on my finger now as I have swollen knuckles (how attractive) but he did buy me a replacement a few years back - can't remember how much that was.

I've been married twice and have no idea how much my engagement rings were. Both husbands chose them and the really funny thing is they are identical rings! Second hubby offered to change it but I wouldn't let him as he had chosen it specially. I chose the second wedding ring which was supposed to be a plain gold band but then I fell in love with one which had 6 tiny Russian diamonds set in it, so that bumped it up by several hundred! We had daisies engraved inside our rings. All together now aaaaahhhhhh! Daisy

My engagement ring was about 12 pounds, (1971) and wedding ring 18 pounds,(1973) we were very poor, he was an appentice and I was a student, our first flats rent was only 2.72 a week, shows how poor we were! I had to have them made larger a few years ago, that alone cost 32 pound, more than the original cost!!! Suex

The first time round I married a title and he had a ring designed as a coronet for me.Central ruby and diamonds set on 'stalks' if you know what I mean.I have no idea what it cost and it went in a burgalry in Hong Kong Second time round - I had traditional 3-stone diamonds,Russian blues, family heirloom...Sold in the 80 when there was a slump and a lot of people including us were unemployed for a time. What was the good of a ring that lived in the bank.We sold it and are living in it-If you know what I mean. We both wear simple wedding rings,I think mine was about £150 - platinum -don't buy platinum it get sharp edges.and my husbands was £90 Tweny-four years ago. My platinumring became so uncomfortable to wear I replaced it with a £7 Samuels Silver ring. A few years ago on a visit to my beloved Wales my husband bought me a lovely silver band with a welsh inscription on it.I wear this a lot-I love it

Jennifer - we have the same dates! We got engaged in Spain and the ring was not many pesetas - must have been a disappointment to the burglar who nicked it 16 years later! White gold wedding ring survived the years of washing/cleaning etc but wouldn't have cost a lot at the time - we didn't have it! I now have my Aunt's engagement ring which I inherited and daren't wear it often as it's value makes it a liability rather than asset, it's beautiful.... Dilys!
