Don't feel bad. My brother had tonsillitis for a week before he was taken to the doctor. My parents thought he was just being a fussy eater.

Look here Lou, if that's what you think makes you the world's worst Mum, then I don't know where you have been living all your life. You sound a brilliant Mum who cares for her children but does not over-panic. Your daughter will soon be well. Don't be so hard on yourself....it was something any of us could have (and perhaps already have) done so please don't punish yourself. Just be a happy Mum, that will help your daughter more than anything. Love Hazel

LMAO - that just reminds me of when my mum sent my step-sister to school with 'you'll feel better when you get there'. The school was on the phone by 11am, the spots had started to come out - my poor sister had chicken pox!! lol

You're certainly not the worlds worst mother. I've been there myself. My son had infected bowel from food poisoning/stomach bug. He wasn't that poorly, wasn't sick, just a bit grotty, then perked up then went a bit grotty again. When he went rough again, only then did I go to the doctor (after 4 days since it started) and told that he had the infection - felt really awful and guilty - so know how you feel. it is just one of those things. (cleared up by itself after visit to doctors). Don't beat yourself up about it. You're a good mum Kxx

Oh - and my parents said I'd just sprained my arm when I was a kid after I had fallen over - over a week later when I moaned it still hurt - they took me to doctor - it was broken!!! Seen it from both sides, nothing to worry about. Kxx

Lou don't beat yourself up, we've all been there! When my youngest was 3 she hurt her arm bouncing on the sitting room cushions. I just rubbed it and said wave it up and down like this and it will be all better soon. She promptly fainted and a trip to casualty showed a break in two places! It happens and Bex will be well soon. No you cant be the worlds worst.... I'm afraid that the undefeated holder of the title is....... My Mother In Law!! Ok get this..... Aged 7 my darling better half was playing in the woods and falls from a rope swing breaking both his wrists. Did she rush him straight to the hospital I hear you all cry?? Well.... she did.... once she had ran the bath and put him in it and cleaned his dirty knees and face and put clean clothes on and combed his hair!! This is only one story that entitles her to the title!! Shaz xx

Lou My children tell me I'm the world's worst... when I won't let them eat biscuits for breakfast. But I am also the best when I've done something they like. As to illnesses/accidents, a friend of mine once strapped her toddler into a car seat shortly after the little girl had taken a short tumble downstairs, and drove her whimpering all the way from Reading to Manchester. As she was still whining when they arrived she took her to the local hospital, where they found that she had broken her collar bone! This story has a good ending though, as this friend was the one who diagnosed my son's broken collar bone when she was working at his school. It's difficult - if you take your child to the doctor and its not serious, you feel you've wasted their time and clogged up the health system, and will be labelled an over-anxious mum. If you don't take your child to the doctor and it turns out to be serious then you are a Bad Mother! nell

No you're not Lou, you're a great mum! At least Bex is sorted now and getting plenty of medication and sympathy :) I was the world's worst mother once when Jordan was little - took him to have his feet measured and he was wearing shoes that were a size too small - did I feel guilty???? Mandy :)

Hi Lou, Poor old Bex. They just overdo it at that age don't they! They wouldn't go to the doctor anyway half the time - even if you nagged them. Glad she's all tucked up in bed now, with her medication. I'm off for 5 days to Christchurch in the South Island with Wayne. Going to see Mark Knophler and R.E.M. Should be good! Christine
