Surely you would only have eaten fish if you had easy access to it. Living in the Midlands there wouldn't have been much fish about. |

Where's the logic in it all? I would gladly follow my ancester's dietry peculiarities if I could be shown a good reason for doing so. Len |

We have just eaten a mixed grill - chops, kidney, sausage toms, mushrooms, chips and eggs. scrummy!! We had to have something with eggs as we are getting 10 eggs a day from our chickens !! So no fish for us today, only do fish if RC friends come across. xx Jill |

Chilli tonight. Brought up C of E, but we didn't have fish at all at home. My mother was allergic to it and has passed the allergy on to me. Would love to be able to have fish occaisionally as a change. Ros |

I was also brought up as a RC, but because I had it thrust down my throat all the time as I've become an adult I've rejected it. I do believe in certain things like fish on Fridays, although not every week, but definatly Good Friday is a fish day. Jo. |

Yes, usually fish on a Friday, but if not fish then omelette etc. but not meat. Nothing to do with religion, but at home we never ate meat on a Friday and I'm carrying on tradition. Sylvia xxx |

We've got sausage casserole! I keep thinking it's Saturday anyway, as husband is home! (no, I'm not RC, in fact I'm not anything!) |

Fish was always on the menu on Fridays at school. I still think of Friday as 'fish day' but I don't necessarily observe it. I think we will be having vegetarian tonight. nell |

Was brought up RC. Don't follow all the rules but don't eat meat on good friday, mum would know even though she isn't in my house and i would feel guilty anyway, same as missing midnight mass christmas eve, christmas is not the same for some reason, stupid i know. Jan |

Friday was a real penance at my convent school, usually horrible boiled cod complete with bones and lumpy white sauce (I privately believed it was Polycell). Then, whooppeee, every now and then fish and chips instead. It caused me to hate fish, in any other form than battered, for years. Love it now - but still hate to find bones. However, you can take the girl out of the convent but you can't take the convent out of the girl so I sill usually eat fish on Good Friday, even though I am no longer a practising Catholic.
