it's probably best to go to the doctor to find out what works best in your area as they do become immune to certain lotions and potions. also the reason it's rare to find lice in coloured ( enhanced LoL ) is because peroxide kills them outright and they can't live in the hair. |

i used to use derbac on my girls whenever they got them but it has now given my daughter eczema on her head. i think the best thing to do is to section the hair of and put conditioner on every section(dry hair),comb through and put the things out.then you need to check again seven days later and repeat if necessary. don't think the bit about coloured hair is right though--cause i got them once |

As nits seemed to be rife in my grandaughters' school, I went to Boots to ask for something with which to treat their hair. The lady I spoke to, told me the hair shouldn't be treated unless they actually had nits. One the one hand, you have the parents who look after their children's hair on a regular basis. On the other hand, you have the minority who just couldn't care less, and don't ever bother to do anything about the problem. I can't see how the schools can get rid of the problem under these circumstances. Joan |

Go out and buy a bog standard Tea Tree Oil shampoo, and conditioner if you fancy, and use this all the time. This will do the trick. We get ours from Asda, own-brand. |

headlce are rife in my daughters school at the moment, it makes me cross as it can take up to 3 hours to go through her hair as it's so thick and long,it's not the lice but the eggs that are a pain. then you send them to school just for them to bring them back home because all the parents are not checking their own children!!!! Hi, Surely if a parent continually ignores the problem its like a form of abuse? If you kept a dog flea ridden you'd probably be hauled before the courts by the RSPCA. How can any parent watch a child go through the misery of constant scratching and not deal with it? Perhaps they are trying to deal with it but not sure how to eradicate nits effectively. there is no nit nurse for advice - everything should be washed too - pillows, bedding, towels - and if we had a 'national no nit day' once or twice a year it might help! BRING BACK THE GOOD OLD NIT NURSE FOR ROUTINE INSPECTIONS.....................Never mind all political correctness that they plea....as just said irradicate the child abuse that's caused by constantly having nits . for crying out load teachers and the such are not meant to physically comfort a child if they fall and hurt themselves these days what is not going wrong in our schools..... Don't forget that once you got the walkers out there still the eggs which seem to be stuck on with super glue. I get them out by using my finger nails. |

My grandaughter had a problem with nits, and it cost me a fortune with fancy lotions from the chemist Lyclear, Full Marks, nit combs and conditioner, even went to a health shop and spent around 10 quid on some lotion which had been given a good write up in a newspaper, but to no avail, than some wonderful person on here told me about Listerene, just soak hair and comb through, leave for about 30 mins to an hour and wash off. Nits are attracted to a certain smell that comes from your scalp, it's nothing to do with clean hair /dirty hair, and believe me the smell of Listerene stays on your hair for quite some time, and I can honestly say my grandaugher has never been troubled again, just a quick spray every month keeps the little blighters at bay. Hope this helps someone. Belle. |
