2 shelves in our main food cupboard, - savoury on the bottom shelf, sweeter things on the top. Even the rest of the family can cope with that. Selections are then sub divided into groups. Of course your other half is right. I hope you enjoy working in the new kitchen. Was this the kitchen or holiday that we voted on?

I've been thinking on this over lunch and the practicalities of the random system totally outweighs the a-z you'd have to put little notes inbetween items directing people to the fridge or freezer i.e. cheese (see fridge - in door) chicken tonight sauce chicken - whole (see freezer) chilli powder chinese 5 spices chorizo sausage (see fridge - bottom shelf)

I agree with you Paul!! After all, there are only so many varieties of Pot Noodle to alphabetise. You put your foot down and start as you mean to carry on.

If you do the cooking then you get to put it where you like! You have to do all of the cooking though, or 60% and the shopping. Depends who is queen or king of the kitchen Abigail

Are you all telling me that it is OK to keep my Spaghetti to the left of my Bolognese? But do I still need to put Lasagne in the middle? And I don't need to open tins of Alphabet Soup and distribute it throughout the Kitchen? Thanks everyone EXCEPT PAUL for your sensible suggestions.

Zoe Report 19 Apr 2005 16:04

Grampa I hope you're leaning your lasagne up against you bolognaise or else it may teeter unsteadily and then flip sideways over the spaghetti and you'd NEVER find it again Zoe

I was reading this thread through from the beginning and thinking 'me, me, I agree with you Paul!' .. then I got a bit further on and noticed that Wendy has beaten me to it lol! Maybe I have OCD, but I'd put it all in alphabetical order. We have hundreds of books in our house and I'm afraid to say that they're all in alphabetical order - by author - and so are all the DVDs by title ... and all the CDs ... oh dear, do you think I'd better book that appointment now???? Mandy :) PS, Paul, how's your mum doing?
