Walking boots/shoes ? Was looking at the snow and rock website last night, saw lots that looked appropriate... any advice from any seasoned walkers for someone who hasn't walked more than a few miles in about 20 year s? |

Might seem a bit of a daft question Paul but have you been into Milletts? Sometimes they have a sale on. They have a website as well. I need some new ones soon. Its the Isle of wight annual walking festival in may so I like to get out on some of the walks. |

Hi Paul, If you are like me and just walk really seriously about twice a year I would recomend Hawkshead. If you Google it it comes up with the site. Their boots start around £25.00. They have taken me and my family around the Lake District for the last 20 years. You can wear them straight away, they never give you blisters as long as you stick to the 2 pairs of socks rule and they last!!! Good luck with the walk........Mags |

Paul my husband has problems with his knee's, he is also a trained mountain leader, the boots he has are LOWA'S and they come highly recommened by PHYSIO'S as they eleviate any pressure on the feet and ankles..they do cost about £110 but they are well worth it they get issued by the Army for people with Knee injuries and the such....he has had barely anymore complaints with his knees as he is allowed to wear them permanently... What size are you Paul? I have a new pair here that are about a size 10 I think. Bit difficult to tell as euro sizes. New, never worn. I am a devotee of Hawkshead. Mags... just off to pick up from school!!! |

So much easier on the bunions. Would it be cheating if you paid a ringer to do the trek by proxy for you? |
