Jason Please follow everyone's advice and please do not keep things bottled up, my poor old Mum used to that and she suffered badly with mental health problems, things are so much better nowadays as afar as treatment is concerned. there is nothing wrong with being depressed it is an illness like anything else just keep talking to everone and if you feel like have a good yell nothing wrong with that either. Go see the doctor you may not have to have anti-depressant but he may come up with something to make you feel better, Good luck keep talking Germaine

Jason I suffer really bad on and off with depression and have had 2 nervous breakdowns it has taken me a long time and numerous antidepressents and even diazapam, I have had it for a lot of years, and I am just finishing councelling sessions,I am starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel, I have some good books I could recommend if your interested I call them my bibles. You have taken a real big step coming on here more than I could ever have done, well done I always say that people like us are stronger than we think to be able to cope with such a traumatic illness that no one can see, that makes us special. If you want the names of these books one of the authors also does a tape just let me know.Be strong and keep talking......................Denise.

Hi Jason. Sorry that you are having a bad time at the mo. I would just like to agree with what everyone else is saying. You need to see your doctor (is there another in the practice that you could see?) Carry on talking. Don't bottle things up. There is always someone here that will talk to you. The Citizens Advice Bureau will give you free financial advice. Hope the sun shines for you soon. Jill xx

Jason, glad hearing from everyone made you feel a little better - it is always good to let things out and you have been very brave to come on here and talk about your problems. I know what it is like as I have had similar problems to you and now mine have manifested themselves into OCD. I have had to push for help from the necessary people but at last am getting somewhere. We sufferers in this area have set up a self help support group and it is brilliant. Don't forget if you feel really desperate to talk and it is late there is always 'the Samaritans' - they will talk to you and listen and when it is late at night and you feel there is no one else awake and feeling like you do, they are only on the end of the phone waiting to help. There is something you could possibly take which is compatible with most drugs - just ask at your local Health food store. It is called Passiflora complex - made by Bioforce and is totally natural and just helps you stay a bit more 'level' emotionally. It costs 7.99 but lasts for about 2 months - you just take 20 drops in a little water twice a day, tastes like you're drinking weed killer (or what I imagine drinking weedkiller would taste like) but the taste doesn't linger. I have used it for a while and it has helped me. If you can find the money for that, do try as I am sure it would help. I'll be thinking of you - good luck.

Hang in there Jason.Just being on this site is a good step. I have been depressed when I first started my current job, and I know the feeling, though it was short term. I took anti depressants for 3 months. It was due to a specific situation, but it must be hard for you and I feel for you. I don't think anyone can understand until they have been there. There are a lot of nice people out there, this site proves it, don't let the others get to you. Jenny

Hi Jason I, too, suffer from bouts of depression. I have also done some extremely stupid things in the past, albeit one of them was just over a year ago. Go and see your doctor not just to get medication, but to find out where you can go to talk to someone. Medication isn't the answer, as you probably know. I'm such a hypocrite, I have a fear of talking to someone professional, I just don't like the idea of it. I've done it before and never found someone I felt at ease confiding in. It's not for everyone, but there is the right person out there to talk to, just might take a while to find them. You're not alone. Please don't do anything stupid. Don't feel ashamed. Depression is an illness, a chemical imbalance in the brain and you need to 'teach' your brain to be more balanced! All the best Chloe

Hi Jason, firstly it took guts to come on here and tell us about the depression, so give yourself credit for that. Can I also say that I admire you for admitting that you cry. I get so annoyed when I hear someone say 'real men don't cry' - aaaaaargh! That is so, so wrong! Real men DO cry! That aside, can you see Jason, you have absolutely loads of friends on here, people who care about you. So as others have said, if you're feeling down, come onto the boards and tell us! Take care you, and keep in touch. Glenys x
