Some of you may be aware i have a footballing son....he has had trials for a certain local team before but got badly injured and it held him back.

He has been doing a National Diploma in Sport at a local college as well as their football developement course and has played in tournaments in America. However he had decided that as it was not possible for him to make it as a professional now he would play for fun and concentrate on his studies....well...yesterday the England Under 21 coach was at the college, to monitor the teaching, and went up to my son and asked how often he played, after a brief chat he told my son that he was good enough to play far more, AND he is going to see about getting him some trials for the Under 21's!!! Am i a pleased Mum??? oh yes :-)) Even if it comes to nothing, it has made my son feel so much better, that i am smiling for England :-)) Yvette

Thanks everyone :-) Of course we are aware that it is a big step that may not get anywhere, but to think they think he is good enough to look at has just confirmed my feelings on the matter ;-) and made David feel good. Anne...if he gets in i will let you know you can start bragging lol, my Dad is chuffed, he keeps saying his grandson WILL play for Palace...oh heck, what a family conflict that could be lol.. Yvette

Yvette You swell with pride, as much as you like, I know what its like to be picked for a team..WOW!! In my case it was just to represent my county,in my sport,But how I would have loved to wear an England track suit..........But Time has passed me by, and I am proud of my club mates that DO make it.........Bob

Yvette Report 30 Apr 2005 11:22

Thanks Bob, well done to you as well for making it at County level, thats something to be proud of. My son played for Norfolk County for 2 years, and even made it to Holland for a friendly tour, which was great fun for him. Yvette

Yvette, You certainly are allowed to swell with pride, congratulations to David! Just don't let him EVER play for A******! Seriously though, I am really pleased for you and for him, especially as he has overcome the injury to continue. Love Carole

My ex was offered a trial with a club as a youth and blew it with his cockiness, arrogantly thinking he was so good all the clubs would chase him. He nows drives a van delivering dog food. Your son has put in so much hard work he deserves this chance.
