They are in my living room, granted it's not an army, just half a dozen or so, but everytime i kill them, more are coming in and i don't know how they are getting in or where they are coming from, what do i do? Tricia |

You'll need to watch them to find out where they are getting into the house then put ant powder down. Janice |

get an 'ant bait' which is like a little metal tin with 'food' inside they collect dinner, take it back to their nest and it poisons the nest as well as teh ants - curing the problem at the root. theyre about 4 quid and you have to leave it down for a week in order to make sure you get them all but they're brilliant |

As Janice says, if you can find where they are getting into the living room? put some Ant killing powder down. But you need to check your outside walls for any gaps in the brickwork by your living room, I found the best thing to use outside was Paraffin. Good Luck. |

I got some from B and Q sprayed it round the pipes out side that comes in to the kitchen and it keeps them at bay till rain washes it away then spray it again |

I had a similar problem a few years back....I was advised to cut the tree branches back that were touching my roof as the ants were coming from the trees.....I cut the branches and haven't had an ant since! Judy |

We've had a plague of them in the kitchen - all over the worktops, yuk! I put Nippon (sticky liquid) on some ceramic tile and put it down where they were most abundant. They take it back to the nest, seems to have worked! |

I had a plague of ants in my little patio and tried everything to get rid of them, but they still came back year after year. Then two years ago someone gave me a plant, I am not sure but it may be Pennywort, and I have not seen any since! Will try and find out for sure for you. BC |

BC It wasn't Penny Royal plant was it? its a mint variety. I have heard vinegar and salt are really disliked by ants, but I don't know. Outside I use salt around small cuttings to stop snails and slugs gorging themselves on my seedlings, it is a nasty way to do things but it has to be done :-( ants and earwigs like small cuttings too and using salt seems to help protect them. BC ;-) Thanks for answering and making me sound clever LOL. I've used boiling water it's good for getting rid in certain places but not good enough in the garden, doesn't get near enough to the heart of the hill. Pat x |

You have had plenty of advice on killing the source of the ants, but if you got a load in your house, get the vacuum out with the nozzle attachment and suck all the ones you can see up. We often get winged ones in at certain times in the summer, seem to collect on patio window, so we suck them up, then put ant powder down outside the window. Val |
