You're welcome Seriously Sarah, a lot of these people on GR have been my lifeline over the last few months. They're good, decent people and they'll be there for you. People may be cynical of cyber friendships but I've found nothing but honest, decent friends who are supportive and loving! Hope you find your Mr Right at the right time for you! love becx

I just want to say thank you to everyone who has replied to this topic. You have all been fantastic and I do feel much better :) I sometimes forget that so much good has happened to me in the last few months and I let trivial little things overshadow them. Thank you all.

Thanks Stelly. Its nice to vent to people who aren't connected to any of it! Everyone I know is understandably biased one way or another! Bex - I'll keep an eye out for a Scottish meet up :) Sounds like it might be fun!

Unfortunately there aren't really any archaeology groups up here and my boss would probably have a fit if I joined one seeing as I kind of work as an assistant archaeologist in the region for the local council! As for the pub culture... yes there is a bit of a one! Pity that I hardly ever drink really!

Sarah, Join the local archaeological group!! Find someone with the same interests as you! My daughter worked at the local 'heritage' centre for her 'work experience' at school. They invited her to a dig in the summer holidays. She met Bart - they've been together 7 years this August. One of the brilliant things my daughter noticed about archaeologists was the 'inbuilt' pub connection! Although she was only 15, she was invited to the booze ups at the end of the day. One day she got so sloshed Bart had to carry her home! Daughter has just finished her last year as a geology/geography student. Tut tut said mum!! lol Just thought of all the bones and stones in their place lol maggie maggie

I'm not sure I know the one yet! My ex and I are part of a close knit group of university chums so I'm anxious not to date any of them because it would be... strange. The only other blokes I know apart from them are my boss and his boss. Never a good idea to date your boss and ones married and about 30 years old than me, the other is in a long term relationship and about 15 years older than me so... hmm... maybe not! Part of what didn't help my previous relationship was moving up here, but I wouldn't trade it in for the world. Its helped me have a better idea of who I am and I'm so much more relaxed and happy than I have been in years. Besides, rolling hills and fields vs the urban west midlands... hmm... not a tough choice!

Well there'll be plenty more meets (maybe one in the Summer in London... hint hint) including a Scottish one that's being organised.

Bec - If it was this month or late July I'd have probably made the time but I'm trying to keep myself free for the end of June/beginning of July. Right now I'm doing my dream job. It was meant to only be a 2 month contract and end at the end of March. Then they extended it to the end of April and then to the end of June. They don't think they can't find the money for any further extentions and they're being very quiet about it. So... I'm having to apply for other work. If I don't get another extension I'll be sorting out moving back down into England to stay with my parents. The joys of temporary contracts!

I agree with Karen, Theres no rush but I know what it's like to feels like to be lonely........horrible.....but take some time out to be yourself Theres nothing wrong with a bit of flirting.....I love doing it still! As Karen said you will find you probably already know the 'one'.......just never took any notice cos you were....courting(can I still use that expression?)

Bec - I'd love to but I live in Scotland so its a bit of a trek! I kind of assumed once I met my ex that that would be it. We met at uni and I just thought I'd be like everyone else and stay with that person. Its kind of hard to accept that your idea of how settling down works doesn't actually work.

Sarah - I've been single for 5 months (and 4 days!) after a 2 year relationship and it's taken a while to get used to it. At first I was constantly wanting a man and a relationship and then it subsided and now I'm hardly looking and they have started creeping out of the woodwork (hence my date tomorrow night). I know what you mean about living in a rural area, I live in quite a rural area plus I work from home alone, so meeting new people is a real effort. Hope you'll come to the London Meet (June 25th), we can swap notes! love becx

I'm not looking for a man at the moment. I can't really. I'm living somewhere rather rural and its hard to meet anyone outside work and they're all about 10yrs or more older than me. What I'm probably finding hard is that I haven't been single for so long. Even before the last boyfriend I somehow managed to find myself a b/f pretty quickly after a break up. Its just so odd to not have anyone anymore.
