According to news item on teletext today, it says that women born in the Spring reach menopause earlier than those born later in the year, e.g March typically reach menopause by 48 and those in October by 50. I was born end of Sept and was about 53 Val |

This might sound a dumb question but how can you be so specific about when it starts and ends ? I'm in my mid 50s and could only really hazard a guess. |

Usually your doctor will give you a blood test, that will determine whether you are on the menopause or not. I had one last year and he told me it was approaching but not there yet. |

I was born in July, and will be 50 this time round. No idea whether im going through the menopause. Never had a jab to find out from the docs, and everything is happening as it should do each and every flipping month. I cant wait for it. |

I was born in February and I am 54 now, still having periods, just gone 6months without and then two in 6 weeks, I so wanted to chuck the towel in (so to speak) had a test last November and was told I was Perimenopausal, have had night sweats but they stopped now I just feel like a dead duck When are you actually in the menopause? when you have stopped altogether or when you are missing? I can't stop putting weight on either Janet |

There are lifestyle factors to take into consideration, like weight, but they reckon to have taken these things into consideration. I was getting very heavy periods, so doc did a blood test which showed I was within 6 months of finishing, went on HRT for 2 years which regulated things, but couldn't be bothered with monthlys so gave up, and by then I was finished. What a relief!! Val |

I had a hysterectomy but kept my pvaries. Well for almost 2 years. Then I had to have them removed. I wasn't too happy about these ops to start with but I am so glad now. I am on HRT but did suffer bad night sweats to start with. Now I feel so well. I remember my Mum suffering for years so expected to be the same. But I'm sure I still get PMT! Jane |

Julie & Janice (fellow Pisceans!) I was so late the month before last and even though I've been steralised I bought a pregnancy kit - talk about paranoid! I'm also very irritable and my periods are far worse than I've ever had. Debby P.S. Bet the blokes are loving this thread LOL!! |
