Thank you all - we will probably see him Monday when he should return to normal ward and his immediate family should by then know the full story of his condition. I put diverticulitis on web last night and found things he should not eat. Basil will be sad but there is no way I can ever bake him another caraway seed cake! He loves them so and I bought a new box of seeds last week! He will just have to stick with all the other types of cake I bake. We are all booked to go on a narrowboat in 4/5 weeks time so hopefully he will be OK by then and enjoy it - this is a relaxing narrowboat - with crew and cook - all we have to do is sit, eat and watch the world go by slowly! I knew Linda wouldn't let him leave the girls yet. Bless her - I do miss her so. Ann

Thank you one and all for yur support - latest is that Basil is going for investigative surgery this afternoon. Am still in bathrobe - got wakened at 10.30 a.m. with someone at dorr wanting to know where someone lived! Made a cuppa sat down and Basil's brother arrived from London - he has just gone - he too lost his wife 7 weeks before Basil lost Linda. I keep telling his brother and dau - he will be OK - Linda will see him through. If friends don't look after each other it would be a very sad world. On another note - I went outside for a ciagette and coffee about 2.a.m. and a young girl in army clothes began to talk - she had O.D'd earlier in the day - in army 4 weeks and aged 17. As an ex-Samaritan I talked to her but I also let rip and asked that if she had been successful did she realise the extent of the guilt she would leave with parents, siblings and friends. I told her that nothing but nothing was worth taking your own life and to be honest she does not know why she did it! She likes the army and wants to be a medic. Hope I helped her - she said I did. Thank you again will keep you posted when I hear something. Ann Ann
