I used to make beef layer cake - sliced potatoes, then a layer of sliced carrots, then cooked minced beef & onions, then a layer of courgettes, then tomatoes and topped with more sliced potato. nell

Hi Sharron, Stottie cake, a type of bread only made (I think) in the North East. Great with ham and 'pease pudding'. First thing I go for when I get back to Newcastle. Magi

Hi , I think that the English word 'pudding ' is a corruption of the French 'boudin ' as in boudin-noir.....sounds feasible to me ....probably came over with William the Conquerer Joyce
