I am keeping everything crossed for you and your bunny... How frustrating and heartbreaking! You would think there would be some sort of anti biotics or something ........

Hi bev,my giant french lop (jean-claude) is his usual perky self, he is hopping round my dining room eating fresh vegis, chasing the cat (which he is bigger than) and 'chin rubbing' my feet.. you wouldn't think there was anything wrong with him, thats why it's especially hard this time, he is such a lively happy soul.. i have rung the cavy trust and spoken to someone more in my area, i would be lying if i said i wasn't hopeful, i am praying for a miracle, in my head i have lost him, in my heart i wont let go. x

The Bag

The Bag Report 12 Jun 2005 22:43

My brainless springer was a rescue dog.& months old when we had her and we were her 3rd home... She had spent her life shut outside and consequently wouldn't step outside, fear of being shut out , and left out. She Pee'd on the carpet all the first 6 weeks we had her.She still prefers to drink from the loo- the vet thinks the memory of getting a drink 'where she could' has stuck. We chose her, and persevered and has turned into the loveliest, abeit brainless, dog you could ever ever imagine. Although her start in life has left her very scared of people. We have earned her trust, but it was a long hard slog . jess X (and Bobbin X)

Hi Tooth Fairy Don't get down, as for every one who doesn't treat their animals with respect i;m sure there are many more who do. My Guineas are living in the lap of luxury compared to some, cleaned out every other day, live indoors in winter (& overnight indoors in summer when weather is like this cos their Mum is worried they'll be cold outside!!) bathed, feed well (far too much probably! Lol!!) so some of us care. Give the Cavy Trust a ring about your rabbit, they may be able to help you. Don't give up on all humans, some are actually quite ok!! Take care, Joan x

Thanx for all the hugs and support, i'm sooo down at the moment though.. i lost a two year old rabbit last night, i only had him a week and thought he was doing okay but found him when i closed down.. he was peaceful and went in his sleep but it really enfuriates me when it's a needless death like that. If only people would stop buying rabbits and guineas thinking they can leave them in a hutch, feed them once a day and clean them out once a week.. my eyes are so sore with tears i've shed. I am so sad for them.x

Joan of Arc(hives) Report 12 Jun 2005 12:57

Have you tried the Cambridgeshire Cavy Trust? They can often save Rabbits & Guinea Pigs that vets can't. They also could have dealt with the teeth, especially Guineas as they are experienced rodentologists they don't need to anaesthetise when dealing with teeth. www.cavytrust.co.uk based at Upton, Cambs. Sorry for your bunny, hope you'll be ok. Lots of (((hugs))) Joan.

I did the same thing a year ago when I abducted a budgie from a neighbour! Took it to the vet and was told that he was seriously undernourished and if I hadnt done what I did then he would have been dead in a week! The neighbour came round shouting her mouth off wanting the budgie back... Think the thought of having her face caved in made her go away!! lol! Woody the budgie is now doing really well and is merrily chirping away with his girlfriend Cleo!! Bev x

I really do feel for you - and your Bunny - I'm sat here in tears now! I wish people would think before they get pets - the message still hasn't got through has it 'A pet is for LIFE'. I know it doesn't help much, but at least your bunny won't suffer anymore - he will be up in heaven hopping around and happy again. My thoughts are with you - keep your chin up. Kaye x

Toothfairy Report 12 Jun 2005 11:35

please, please only get a pet if you can properly look after it, and keep an eye out for pets that live near you. It is time this sort of neglect and cruelty STOPPED! thanx. x

Sharron Report 6 Jun 2005 15:29

Sparkle, you've done your bit.You can't do more. There is actually a cat and rabbit rescue up the road from me.I don't get involved with the rabbit part at all,I would want one if I did and I don't have the life to care for a rabbit. If only people would think before they acquire a pet,or indeed a child, they might realize what a commitment it is.

Aw poor Bunny and poor you. It does make me sick the way people neglect animals, if they dont want them or cant afford to keep them they should hand them over. I dont have a dog,but I would borrow one every year to do the SSPCA sponsored walk. I did it for 5 yrs till the lady who ran it gave up.I got the most money every year raising nearly £1000 over that time. My friend said she did not agree with giving money for animals,so I told her as she likes steak pies would she not like to think it was 'happy'before being made into one, she then agreed and gave me £5 lol Keep up your good work Marion

sharron, it gave him a home, love and a happy ending.. at least he had that, well done...My bunny wont get better i'm affraid, it's a matter of days really, i wont let him suffer.... if i was in cornwall i'd have that rabbit like a shot! we have many that we have taken from gardens (we mostly, but not always ask) that are near to death or badly neglected.. i'm off again (tears) it just makes me so MAD!
