Hope you feel better soon Joan but do get it checked out again if you dont. Totally Confused, palpitations can be a sign of an over active thyroid. I was told mine were a sign of going through the change and because it was not treated I ended up in hospital for five days, now take medication every day for thyroid and I am pleased to say I am fine. Ask your doctor to do a blood test for thyroid function. Good luck both of you. |

Hi peeps!! Blimey I have just got back from a lie down & quick kip - was in mixed ward last night, me & 3 old boys, (snoring & f*rting all night - old boys not me!! lol!) so didn't get a lot of sleep, then woken at 2 am to find consultant poking me around!! found you had all written to me so i'll try to catch up!Lol!! Still looking- no birds in this house except your truly lol!! Totally- Palpatations are frightening but run in our family (I don't get them though) they usually don't get serious but you should go to hospital if it goes on more than 2-3 hours. Lemonade can help! Grampa Jim - I wondered if I had pleurisy but they say no. I have had a chest x-ray so collapsed lung should have shown- hopefully!! Linda from Bolton - can I mail you direct as that's what they say I have? Sandra - interesting could be that- can I mail you direct too? To everyone I haven't mentioned thanx for your concern- what great peeps you all are!! ;0) Joan xx |

Joan very sorry to hear of your fright. I had chest pains once and was told most likely a torn/pulled muscle - it was scary and was very painful to breath. Also used to get a lot of palpitations, but have completely cut out coffee now and very rarely get an attack. Palpitations can be a sympton of thyroid problems. Wishing you well. Anna |

My partner had Pericarditus (think thats how you spell it) Fluid around the heart. He thought it was very bad indegestion at first. Pain was worse lying down, he had a temperature and pain in his left shoulder and arm and his heart beat was faster. We were quite worried for a bit. After all the checks and blood taken he was sent home with a course of antibiotics and painkiller combined and is all ok now. Hope you sort it out. Sue |

J of A, You give no clue of your age group. My youngest son aged 25 was taken to hospital last week with chest pains. They diagnosed a collapsed lung which they say is not uncommon in someone of his age and build (lamp post). Strangely enough when I was about his age I too had chest pains and was diagnosed to have Pleurisy. Update on Y S, They sucked a litre of air out of his lung cavity and his lung popped back into place. He was on his way home 3 hours after getting to the hospital. The following day he went to the Isle of Wight for the music festival. They think they are indestructable at that age, however, now he is totally exhausted and admits it was a mistake going to the festival. |

I think that is probably sitting at your puter too long Dave - I get terrible pains in my thighs and my shins if I sit on here for hours. |

I get a lot of palpitations - told doc , he doesnt seem to be worried (but I am) I understand ladies of a certain age get them, but its nearly every day. scarey. I took hubby to hospital one night with pains in his chest, they did a ecg (he thought he would leave with a qualification!) but they said torn muscle in his back! The funny thing was while we were waiting to go in I gave him a polo, but one of the ones that have bits of blue spearmint in them. Well, when the doctor examined him, out popped this bright blue tongue. I will never forget that doctors face! It is a frightening thing though. I get indigestion a lot and often wonder |

Joan - it really might be worth seeing a Chiropractor, or similar, even if it's muscular as they can help a lot. I thought something was wrong when I started getting pains in my left leg and left arm - doc said that was muscular, then I started getting pins and needles in my left hand. My Mum is a Nurse and said she thought it was a trapped nerve. I booked a session with a Chiropractor and it was indeed a trapped nerve - more than one. Don't put up with it just because the doc says there's nothing he can do - I dread to think where I would be now if I had. Kaye x |

Thanks everyone. I have had an ECG is that the same as an angiogram? ECG was fine. Doc has told me as pain is usually worse when i'm moving around, more likely muscular. I always have pins & needles in both hands anyway(that's another story!! LOL) Pain is worse when lying down, particular when trying to sleep on left side. Hopefully rest will sort it out. Still very painful, can a torn chest muscle be that painful? Joan x |

About four years ago I had the most awful bout of indigestion one evening. Drank half a bottle of anti-acid formula over about three hours. Phoned my friend who is a nurse and, knowing I am as healthy as a horse, she suggested I go to the hospital. Ignored her and went to bed. One a.m. I could bear it no longer and did as she suggested. Turned out to be a heart attack and spent a couple of weeks in hospital. Lost one quarter of my my heart muscle and had to have an angiogram. Apparently the symptoms for a woman can be different from those for a man. Quite scary - and now I listen to my friend. Been fit as a fiddle ever since. The point is- if you have something unusual happen - it pays to have it checked out immediately. I guess I was very lucky! |

No Guy not had one been on treadmill a few times but not seeing hospital at present, but I have this tingling nearly all the time like my left arm isnt as strong as my right, The Doctor said it is with unstable angina not a pain up arm though.! I take aspirin, rosuvastatin and nicorandil and beta blocker atenolol, I also have spray for when pain comes. My cholestorol is really good since I have been on rosuvastatin under 4 now. Dave |
