Had some bad news

I heard on Sunday afternoon that my Dad's eldest surviving sister (aged 96) died around 1 p m. She slipped away peacefully while asleep in her nursing home. I'm very sad to think I'll never have the chance to meet her now. Having only just made contact with my Dad's family in the past year, and discovering just 3 of his sisters were still alive, I was really keen to travel North this summer, for the first time, to meet them. Not being in the best of health at the moment, and with practical matters getting in the way of making plans, I've delayed making the trip, so I'm really disappointed that I've missed out on meeting my Aunt and having a chat to her about her life and our family. How strange that I'd spent most of that day revising my family tree and notes to send to her son's wife. CB >|< |

Many thanks to all of you for your kind thoughts and good wishes. I'm very touched, and they are much appreciated. As some of you have said, I just wasn't meant to meet my Aunt. I just hope I get to meet the two who are still alive, otherwise there'll be no-one who remembers my Dad as a boy. CB >|< |
