Sandra, could it be sunstroke? I had very similar symptoms years ago (and I'm epileptic, though fits are controlled thank goodness), and sunstroke was the cause. As someone else said, if epilepsy is diagnosed, I've had it for about 42 years, and I can drive, sing onstage, do allsorts without it running my life, or ruining it. Let us know how the daughter is, won't you. x |

Hi My son has been diagnosed with epilepsy. After his first fit they just sent him home as they said everyone is allowed one fit & they wouldn't do any tests until he had another! Saying that there are many types of epilepsy & my son has been fit free for 4 years (he is 7) Penny |

Hiya Sandra Sorry to hear about your friend's daughter, but her mum did the right thing getting the ambulance. I know how frightening it is when your child has their first fit. Jordan is doing really well on the medication, no more fits, so I really hope it's the same for your friend's daughter. Love and hugs to you all, Mandy :) xx |

Sorry to hear about your friends daughter - must have been very scary for both of them Hopefully it will be a one off but -as others have said- epilepsy is not the end of the world. I have had it since the age of 11 (am now 61) and still taking the medication. I can't drive but then never have been able to and quite honestly with todays roads and traffic chaos I wouldnt want to. Apart from that I've managed to lead normal life, brought up my children, and always been able to work. My son also suffers from it and copes very well so all is not lost. Good luck to her and hope all goes well. |

Sandra Sorry to hear about your friend's daughter. I too have epilepsy and have had it since I was 8 years old. Like many others here, it is well controlled with medication and I have two beautiful children - I was completely seizure free during pregnancy. Equally I had a friend at University who suffered a seizure but never had them again - put it down to heatstroke while on a protest march. Hopefully this will be a one off episode for your friend's daughter. I will be praying for her speedy recovery - it must be so frightening for her and her parents. |
