We had a credit card statement today and luckily my husband noticed that an ammount of nearly £50 had been entered twice. I know that I only signed for the purchase once (there was no pin number for that card at the time. we are now trying to get the amount refunded by the retailer, if they wont do it then the CC company have said theyw ill take it up. But we could have just paid up if we didn't check. UPDATE 30.6.05 Ann glos

It is the first time this has happened to me and we have had credit cards since they first came out so i suppose we have been lucky. I do think this is a genuine error though and not fraud. Ann Glos

Always check my credit card especially for payments online. Paid for my daughters graduation cap and gown last month online and had been charged twice for it. When we ordered it the transaction didn't go through properly the first time so had to do it again, when the statement came, it had been ordered twice! Maggy

I always check my bank statements now, since I was ripped off for £850 a couple of years ago. (Don't have a credit card, just debit card). Fortunately, the bank refunded the money. Lynne

If you are charged for something that you shouldn't be, you should contact the CC co. They should refund it straight away. A friend tried to pay for a meal in a restaurant in France. (The Pomme D'or in Port sur Saone) They took his card, but said it would not go through, so he paid by cash. When he got his statement it had gone through on his card. He asked me how he could contact the restaurant, but I said he should contact his CC Co. He did and they refunded staight away. You should not allow you card out of your sight. David

I opened a new bank account in April - and specifically said I didn't want a credit card. Today I had a credit card bill from the bank for £70. £20 of this was for not paying last months bill - a bill I hadn't had!! Phoned them up - £50 was 'payment protection' for a card I didn't possess (but apparently had a number for)!! Very confusing - and very annoying. :0( maggie
