Well done Sue...You are right, there will be tough days but the key is to keep busy,I think. Day 9 is good, the nicotine will be gone from your body. The very best of luck to you and anybody else who is stopping. Have a good day. XX BC

Hi Debby....so glad you have brought this thread back to life. I didn't like to ask where it had gone! The very best of luck to you for wanting to give up. It is the toughest thing to do...but so rewarding. XX BC

Hi! I am seriously thinking about it - smoked for 30 years -stopped for 6 months 3 years ago but stupidly started again. Used patches before and want to use them again - just willing myself to ring the clinic now! I too am sick of smelling (!), shortness of breath and of course the money and this is the first time in the last 3 years where I've felt even remotely determined but not sure if I'm really ready. Also sick of feeling like a leper and realising I'm now in a minority. Debby

Hi Motivators, Hope that you are all doing ok and not finding it too difficult. Anne, I am really pleased that you have become a Motivator again. It is hard to pick yourself up and start over again. So a huge well done to you. Pleased to say that my daughter Lesley is still not smoking. If you have given up, you are a brilliant Motivator. If you are thinking about it, it is the first step, good luck! WWW Jill xx

Saturday.... the weekend looks a bit rotten for the weather... and so I hope tomorrow brings the sun, because there is a family day at Chester races and all of my lot are going... me too. Nice to see old and new Motivators on the thread and hope all the others will add their messages sometime this week, at least to let us all know if we ARE Motivated in our Quest For Quitting!! Have a great weekend whatever you are doing and keep up the good work. WWW, Anne :)))

Good Morning all you Non Smokers, and so nice to see Anne back here...without her we lack a certain....enthusiasm... or something...Anyway celebrated my fourth year of being a non smoker on 26th July! My friends are still amazed that I did it after all those years, but I notice one by one they are all getting on the bandwagon! Only one friend left who will be stopping soon. So, if you do not succeed this time, try again. That is what I did. And I am so pleased with myself! Enjoy the day. and keep busy.... XX BC

Swiss Maid, (and others), your worst times seem to be when your fingers have nothing else to do, why not try the new(ish) craze, scoubies? do a bit of tying in your breaks, your kids will think you're 'cool' best of luck with stopping, egg

Gave up 30 years ago, not easy, it helps if you can gain the support of those people you work with as well as your own family. Can't remember when I last felt the craving, it does pass, honest.

Hello again Motivators.... and I hear you all saying... about time I came back to the thread!! Well, after a real big setback, I can now tell you I am back to being a motivator... 5 weeks and still going strong. I needed the time away from the thread, just to call in on the boards every now and then on a casual basis..... stress can be a terrible thing when you give up the fags. I went to the Manchester meet and it helped with a no smoking environment, and had a great day, as others were there without fags too. Keeping away from this thread hasn't been easy, but I have read it and kept in touch with it, but now firmly believe that it is gonna go back to being a front page thread again.... Have a good sleep, tomorrow is another day, WWW, Anne :)))

To those of you that have recently joined the happy band on here - well done for making that move. That's the hardest bit over - making the decision in the first place. I am now 3 months into this no smoking lark - no fags and no patches now. It's still hard - no good pretending it's easy because there is no magic switch to turn the need for a cigarette off but I thought I would share with you a postcard I had from my docs today - addressed 'Dear Quitter' 'SUCCESS IS THE SUM OF SMALL EFFORTS REPEATED DAY IN AND DAY OUT' 'If you are in danger of relapsing remember how hard it was to get past the worst cravings and consider having to go through all that again. You've made the right decision, so stick with it' Inspiring words - pass them on Good luck to you all. Willing you all on. If I can do it (40 years of up to 40 a day)...then you can too! Mags xxx

Well done Kim. You are now one of the Motivators. Pleased that you are not finding it too difficult. Make sure that you are rewarding yourself. Maybe you can buy yourself something that you would not normally buy and then you can see this as a constant reminder of how you can indulge if you do not spend money on ciggies. Hope you all have a good smoke free and stress free week. Jill xx

Well done Kim...I'll bet you feel proud! You could always tie a bandage or scarf around the patch during the hot weather, while you are 'glowing'... or put it on a bit that doesn't sweat....lol BC
