Right. To make tea properly the water has to be boiling. If you put the milk in first, then it reduces the temperature. So it has to be... teabag, then boiling water, then milk after the tea bag's been removed. NB for coffee, the water should NOT be boiling Glad I can be of help to end this confusion.

If you put the tea bag in before the milk it brews better, but some people think by doing that it stains your cup inside, you can put milk in first but it does not brew as good I know this because I went on a two week course on how to brew a good cup of tea.

You have to put the teabag in before the water, but add the milk. I don't drink tea anyway, just hot water. Deanna

Use leaf tea, always, in a 'Brown Betty'. Earl Grey is bar far the best, and don't bother with milk. (Nor lemon) Oh and it always taste better from a china beaker than a thick pottery one. jess

I make tea a lot at work, and also for other people when they come round and am amazed at how many people don't actually like tea. They like hot water with a bit of milk in it and a quick dip of the teabag so that the liquid just changes colour. I have finally sold out and use teabags, but when my dad was alive he used to provide us with tea from a warehouse. We always put milk in after the tea has brewed. But when I make coffee with cold milk, I put the milk in first. nell

If you make tea in a cup then you put the milk in after the tea bag and hot water. If you make a pot of tea, then you put milk in the cup first and then add the tea. Kaye x

Tea made in a pot, to me, just doesn't taste hot enough! even when the pot has been warmed.

There must be one heck of a teapot recession then if the entire country makes tea in a cup! Just doesn't taste the same. Would rather not bother. Daisy
