Hi Bec, I had an abscess on the front teeth and had to have a root canal done on two teeth as when I was 18 a dentist did not remove the nerve properly and 5 years on and a second pregnancy triggered it and all my right hand side of my face swelled up beyond recognition...it caused my eye to bruise and the pressure was so immense that I was on strong pain killers under strict supervision and they put me on (Dr. & Dentist liased) 3 antibiotics all at once..They were worried about the swelling reaching my spinal cord as it was spreading down my neck and near to my throat...It was an nightmare, I really hope you are better soon babe. Love Susie xx

Yes dentist gave them (only 3 daysworth) so will stick with them for now and se my Doc if it continues! My main worry is that I'm attending a family wedding this weekend and need to be on my usual sparkling, witty form (lol)... which may be tricky if I can't speak! love becx

I know you can take them with Amoxicillin but not sure about the other drug. Ring NHS Direct they are very helpful. Glad you are feeling better Liz.

Bec, Sympathy in buckets! I had problems with mine and had to have them all out. Jeff has had pain with his at various times but not had to have any removed yet. Your dentist probably doesn't want to work on the tooth until the infection has cleared, as he could spread it to other roots/gums. When you can, use cooled, boiled salt water to flush your mouth out. It should help. Meanwhile, take care. I hope your ordeal is over soon. Love, CB >|<

Only just caught up with this Bec, pleased to hear the pain has dulled and hope it goes completely soon. You will feel stronger when you can get some food down you, even if in liquid form.. I know how you feel when i was 19 i ha a similar problem with an infection after an extraction, so bad that the dentist came out to my house twice to treat me. I was drinling lukewarm soup through a straw because I was so hungry. Lots of hugs ((((((((hugs)))))))) Ann glos

After I had my Wisdom Teeth removed I had the same problem - couldn't open my mouth wide enough to even get my finger in there! I ate lots of soup - you can always dip soft bread in it to make it easy to eat, also Angel Delight is good - not too cold and easy to slurp off a spoon lol The plus side was that I lost half a stone in weight! Hope the tablets are starting to take effect now Bec - IF you've managed to take them that is. I was really suffering last week, was even in tears, and ended up in A&E (typically the pain is worst when the dentist is shut). All better now, touch wood, but I will never forget the pain I was in so you're not alone. Thinking of you. Hugs. (Gentle hugs that is!!)

Aw Beck I really feel for you honey. I have been suffering with dreadful pain in my mouth and face which turned out to be abcess and gum infection. I had to have quite a few teeth out on June 29th and I was so depressed about it cos I've always looked after my teeth. Having anything wrong with mouth or ears is terrible you just cannot get away from the pain.. Hope that your dentist can sort it out for you. Take care love Maisie
