......I imagine that little dog would be thinking - 'what did I do so wrong to lose the best friend I ever had ?' And I suspect the elderly gentleman would be thinking exactly the same thing.

Have just spoken to my Husband on this subject. He says that something does not ring true. The Gentleman concerned would have received numerous demands for rent. Then a notice of their intention to seek posession of the property. Then the Local Authority or private Landlord would have to apply to the courts for an eviction order. The Judge would not have granted an eviction order under the circumstances, you have mentioned, especially if an application for Housing Benefit had been sent to the LA. If all this had been done and the Gentleman was in breach of his Tenancy agreement, then why was Social Services not called in? If you need any more advise, please contact me and my Husband will give you his advise as what the Gentleman can do next. Jenny. x

Just cannot believe that this has happened in our country. I agree entirely with all that has been said about look after our own first. If he and his little dog were anywhere near where I live I would certainly have looked after them. Disgusting that this sort of thing has been done to an elderly man. Keep us posted please.

Do hope this man and his dog are being helped to settle and he hasn't lost all his things that are part of his past and his life. What a disgrace when someone can be treated like this.

As wrong and sad as it is, Mummylong legs husband is right. my daughter failed to get a form in on time for housing benifit, she is a one parent family and was on benifits before becoming a full time student. but she was made to pay a whole years rent back, evevthough they had proof she was on benifits at the time, she made an offer to pay this back so much a month, which was agreed, but they also had a court order made out ,so if she ever fail to make that payment they can evict her without going back to court.I think this poor fellow may have letters that he did not reply to, they are very sharp now at the council. But don't worry, now this has happened he will probably get some help. It is very sad when anyone is made homeless and my heart goes out to him, but i do think there may be more to this than what he is telling you. Shirley Ann.

Good News at LAst! I saw the gentleman concerned this evening and he is moving into sheltered accommodation tomorrow after being in the B&B He can take his dog and he says the warden is very dog friendly (that is his main concern). Someone will come in every week to make sure he is managing his money. He is getting replacement furniture and I have arranged a 'bedding bale' to go to him. He is very happy now, but I still cant believe that in the 21stCentury an elderly gentleman can be treated like this. He says he knows the person who was behind him being evicted. That is disgusting, I thought they had to give notice of eviction not just change the locks like that. Go to the papers they'll love that and may help him out. Sue

It was a horrible thing to happen to him, but in a way a blessing, he will now be watched over by the warden so no harm will come to him, he will be helped with managing his money, and he has his dog with him, won't be lonely anymore, what a lovely happy ending to a sad situation. Shirley Ann.

as I said before, he is perfectly happy now and he says he also got a rent rebate. I presume his part of housing benefit was being taken whilst he was in B&B and it was overpaid. Dont know. As long as h e is happy now that is the main thing. brenda
