Roxanne, What do you call borderline ? Said earlier my last reading (two years ago) was 6.1. Just checked and oh dear, it was 6.5. Will find out next week what my latest is. Luckily I've lost weight and feel more energetic so hope to get more exercise because I'm sure that can help (hope so). Rosemary. |

Roxanne, I read in the papers that the Government guidelines for GPs on cholesterol levels had been changed, so that what was once an acceptable level is now too high. I think that's why they go on at me now - never used to. I've had high blood pressure for many years too, so they told me I have a 50% chance of a heart attack within the next 10 years. I don't believe a word of it, but if it happens, it happens and that's that. I'd rather go that way than get Alzheimer's, like my mother did. As Freddie Mercury put it, 'Who Wants to Live Forever?' I smoked for over 40 years, (have stopped for 4), I drink wine,(sometimes lots), but I eat healthily, organic for preference, and have a youthful, optimistic outlook....Ideally, I would like two weeks notice before I die, if at all possible! BC |

Roxanne, I don't mind betting I'm far above 5.5. When I ring up for my results next week I know I'll be on edge after discovering my last was 6.5. At least my b.p. has got better. Rosemary. |

Catherine, My husband thinks stress is the main problem. He smokes , drinks, had heart attack 13 years ago and stopped his drugs 7 years ago. Just take aspirin and statins now. Does what he likes. Chlorestral 5.5. Rosemary. |

Rosemary, I think a lot of it is to do with stress. I also think that a lot of medical problems are passed on through generations, which we have no control over . Cath |

Having just read this thread again, I'm shocked that 5.5 is considered unhealthy. The last readings I had were 7.8 on a private test and 8.2 on an NHS one 2 weeks later. That was 2 years ago. I must be at death's door by now! LOL CB >|< |
