Len, I've noticed several butterflies in our garden this summer - more than usual. We have buddleias that seem to attact the Peacock variety, and there are small orange ones and small blue ones. We don't get many cabbage whites, but then we don't grow brassicas, just fruit and beans. One day recently, when a friend brought her two grandsons to tea, we sat in the garden. The younger boy (aged 7) had brought a school project folder to show me. He put the book on the garden table and opened it. Immediately, a beautiful Peacock butterfly came and landed in the middle of a page and sat there for several minutes. He was thrilled, and it was lovely to see one so close up and so still. They are beautiful. Good luck with your lepidopterae-spotting! CB >|< |

I don't know how they get away with it, has anyone had the police out after them , surely it is against the law to ride up and down a street and course people to be desturbed in the early hours. It would drive me barmey too. Shirley Ann. |

Now off to work, the police should be coming there this am. to see me about the incident yesterday when someone took 3 shots at me with an air rifle. Ihave to admit, i don't scare easy, but i am a bit uneasy about going into our garden at work now, but it can't be avoided.Worse thing about it ,i had 2 pregnant ladys sitting in the garden at the time, it don't bear thinking about what could have happened. Be back later, feel free to have a moan while im gone. Shirley Ann. |

Well i must say i thought this thread would have been a mile long when i got home from work. You are a contented happy lot, not a moan to be seen. Police once again didn't turn up at work over the air rifle incident, maybe if i had been hit they would have come sooner. Shirley Ann. |

Well i'm going to have a HUGH moan. My car has now been in the garage (waiting for parts) since july and it has already cost me over 2000 euros in car hire. They reckon that WHEN they get the parts it could cost me around the 3500 euros to get it fixed and i'm still paying car hire. i am sooooo p***ed of at the moment. I've been hoping to get a new kitchen for 2 years, well thats now gone out the window. moan over, Annie x |

Sadly no. We didn't know at the time it would take this long and of course August out here means everything shuts down for the month. i was thinking about buying a cheapo car, but by the time i insure it etc, then the parts could come in i will be even more out of pocket. Serves me right for having an american car. its a Jeep Grand Cheerokee Annie x |
