MaggyfromWestYorkshire Report 25 Jul 2007 20:25

.......to cut a long story short, I have been having treatment for 'womens problems' After an hysteroscopy 2 weeks ago my consultant told me that I had a small cancer on my cervix. He took a biopsy and sent me for an mri scan which would tell him what treatment I needed. I have had a phone call from the hospital today telling me that my biopsy and my mri scan were both clear and I don't have cancer. I should feel relieved, which I do, but I also feel angry and confused.

I certainly do that Joy, but also feel annoyed that I have been put through a month of stress and so has my family.

So pleased that all is OK with you but I can understand your anger at this moment. You must have been constantly worrying. I am sure in a couple of days that will pass and you will be so relieved :)) Jean x.

I hope you are recovering well from your op. A maddening situation for you and one you could have done without - BUT better than being told everything is fine and then later told it's not. Take care Jay

Recovered from the hysteroscopy fine Janet, it was no big deal really. The big deal was being told that I had cancer straight after it!

I am glad that you are ok, but it sounds as if the initial consultant should have kept quiet until the 'second opinion', the same thing happened to a friend ,diagnosed with something that frightened her half to death then given the all-clear by someone with the experience to know what they were looking at. Don't get me wrong everyone, I am really relieved and really grateful that everything is ok, but feel like I have had a months stress for nothing. Will go back to see the consultant again tomorrow, because I had the appointment anyway. See what he has to say. The worst part was having to tell my hubby, kids and elderly parents that I had cancer.

Mary Report 25 Jul 2007 20:37

of course you feel a bit angry and confused although being relieved. The cells on the surface of the cervix can change appearance without necessaraily being malignant. it is good that you were properly checked out, but if I were you I would want a check up again (colposcopy) in 6 mths or so and would want referal back to consultant if i had any unusual bleeding or abdominal pain. glad you're ok now though.

MaggyfromWestYorkshire Report 25 Jul 2007 20:37

Good luck Caz, I really do know what you are going through. I appreciate that the consultant must have been certain that it was cancer, to tell me that, I just wish he had waited until the results came back.

Maggie, so pleased for you that all is well. I would think that the anger and confusion is perfectly normal. You were put through a lot of unnecessary upset and worry and had to worry your family, only to be told it was a false alarm. I am sure that once you have seen the doctor and expressed how upset you are you will begin to feel better and the overall feeling will be relief. Ann Glos

Caz, I did have mine done under general anesthetic and had to stay overnight in hospital (the night before to make sure there was a bed for me).
