Wow, thank you - you've all been so kind, I wasn't expecting that! I do have genuine issues from the past that have affected my self-confidence and self-esteem, so you've no idea how much your comments have helped me. Thanks again and love to you all, Mandy :) |

Hi Mandy Enjoy your new leisure time without guilt, you have earned it. Working for as long as you did while coping with so many problems is commendable and now you can just channel your available energies into other directions, i.e. your cards, your family (not that you didn't already give them your all), little Alfie and anything else you want to try. Maybe at some point you could become a befriender, do you have them down your way? You just visit or call occasionally an elderly person who is alone, or someone with such problems as agrophobia or such, anyone in fact who could do with a chat now and again. Whatever you do I wish you well - take care, Liz x |

Mandy - enjoy your 'retirement' there are so many things you can do, on a part time basis. I retired last year (early sixties) due to stress of the job and nightmare travelling conditions. I suddenly thought 'I don't need this' - I miss the money but it's all worked out in the end, as pensioners we get a little tax credit and some council tax rebate (our savings being below limit) and we've installed a water meter (so much cheaper), plus I don't need the clothes I once had to have (seeing clients). I am in the U3A and go to their Writing Group, volunteered through INTERGEN for work in schools and currently teaching sixty kids to bake, over two days each week. I am in the Book Group at the Library too. When you 'slow down' you might find that your ME is better controlled, my cousin did. Good Luck! Lily x |

Mandy, Welcome to the 'leisure club'. I retired early 10 years ago - voluntarily - and have never regretted it. A friend was in the same situation as you are, several years ago - made redundant from a job she loved. After a couple of months she thought it was the best thing that happened to her. In a few weeks I'm sure you will have settled into your new life very happily as a 'Leisure Manager' - after all you will manage your own leisure. Look after yourself - you deserve it. Love Anne xx |

Mandy.....happy retirement to you. ;-0) You are not a failure. I do know what you are feeling though, it takes time to realize your limitations. Once you do...the worlds 'YER LOBSTER'. tee hee Deanna (X) |

Hi, Mandy. Jude JB said everything I would have said. I'm afraid I have to tell you off (raising her voice a bit): YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE! Consider yerself scolded for saying that. Personally, I know just how much you have helped our Shauna with her self-esteem, and grief at the beginning of the year. Concentrate on YOU now; it's about time! x |
