... Depression isn't about anything. It's not about 'Woe is me, my life is this, that and the other'. It's like having the worst flu all day that you just can't kick. It's not about situations, places or things' - Robbie Williams

Have just finished Robbie Williams's biography 'Feel'. He says lots of very true things but his quotation about depression really struck home. love becx

That's a pretty good description of depression.

Ruby - that's what I thought. Have been trying to think of ways of describing it to people for ages but what Robbie says really sums it up! love becx

The worst of it is, when a dark cloud looms and you don't know why, if you do know then at least you can do something to try and move it on. But if the horrible feeling has no root you can put your finger on, it is like an enemy with out a face. It is a pain with no bandage for anyone to see, so it is harder to face, as you do it quietly and suffer alone, or try to tell people at the risk of being thought a whinger. At least if your ailment is seen easily, people try to understand, but this invisible ailment can be just as sore. For anyone with a cloud today, I send love XXXX

I think most of us can empathise with this at one time or another in our lives.

Like a huge grey wall blocking your path and surrounded by fog. Even if you can climb it you can't see over it. Then one day, eventually, the fog starts to lift just enough for you to see where you're going. Daisy

It angers me no end when I hear the phrase 'pull yourself together', which has been said on many an occasion regarding depression. When I hear someone being told that, I feel like getting a sock and stuffing it in their mouth! x

Glad you appreciate the quotation I posted. Robbie's (2nd) biography is a really good read if you're suffering from depression, he articulates how it affects him with extreme honesty. Love becx

hiya bec and thank you. its frightening cos once it gets its hooks in you its nitemare, you think will never end, met an old school friend a couple of months back (not seen her for years) she said you have never changed, you are still a bundle of laughs. remember why we voted you as the form captain. cos you would never pull rank on us lol (i t only lasted a couple of weeks teacher realised i was a lost cause).I laughed and said goodbye to my friend, and thought if only you knew. i have to use a crutch(tablets) to make me feel relativly normal, but hey ho tomorrow is another day, for those who answeard my thread . cheers xxx

am feeling pretty much that way myself, have felt for years lack of energy, not wanting to do anything, now have days when most things are ok, then i feel really nackered and just really fed up with everything

Unknown Report 14 Oct 2005 21:56

The thing about depression, true, clinical depression, is that quite often you would never know that the personw as suffering - they could come across completely 'normal' (for want of a better word). Just goes to show you can never tell whats going on in someone elses mind.

I have to make a decision shortly about saying goodbye to my horse, who has a degenerative condition. I don't want, or ask for pity. I haven't told my family yet what I am going to do, it just seems easier to sit here and tap it out on the computer. x
