read this thread and laughed...im pregnant with my fourth child, just told my mum and dad what weve chosen name wise and my dad hates it!! but he never liked my other childrens names either. i hate mine!!(and dad picked it) until cherie blair came along i got cherry, sherry, etc its pronounced(sherree) but ive lived with that now for almost 29years. my children are called Natalia,Mason and Logan so the next one has to be a K name, following my backwards alphabet.(cant tell you as its a secret)only 10.5 weeks to go though so il let you all know then see if anyone likes it! as a kid i was always called Natalie in games,i just chose a diferent variation for my own daughter, she hates it though!!

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 17 Oct 2005 19:35

It was difficult growing up in England with a Welsh name but I'm sort of used to it now. When I was little I wished I was called Abigail but I have no idea why. Gwynne(th)

Hated my name as a child but have grown into it. There is only one shortened form that I will not answer to these days & I'm not telling you that. Vivienne

Rachel

Rachel Report 17 Oct 2005 18:51

I always wanted to be Elizabeth when I was little but it's my middle name and we have alot of Elizabeths in our family so that was never a good idea, ended up being called Rachel but never liked it much - don't mind the welsh pronounceation (Rat-chell). Would have liked to be Rebekah (not Rebecca) but love being called Lunar which I have been called on and off for about 8 yrs. ____________________________________________________________________ TO CHANGE YOUR NAME ON THE MESSAGE BOARD go into my account details and change you name, your tree will be uneffected.

I neither like or dislike my name and besides I've had plenty of time to get used to it !!

Claire

Claire Report 17 Oct 2005 17:33

I like the name Claire, I mean there is nothing to object to. It is just that I was born at the same time as the song 'Clair' was popular so not only was there an explosion of Claire's, (there were 7 in my year at school), I keep getting it sung at me! I wanted to be Stephanie when I was younger. My dolls were always called Stephanie. I have no idea why. I still like it now. Claire xx

Margaret I was christened Honorah (for goodness sake shhhhh! don't tell anyone) the Priest didn't think there was a saint called Norah (he was Italian) so decided to name me himself - no wonder I don't know whether I'm coming or going N.N.H

Margaret

Margaret Report 17 Oct 2005 15:58

I have always liked my name - don't like it when people shorten it to Marg. Have learnt to accept that hubby's family call me Maggie. Doesn't sound right coming from anyone I do not know though. Norah, my grandmother's name was Honora - shortened to Nora; her daughter got Noreen. I always wanted to call my daughter that, but ended up with 2 boys.
