A housing association in swansea plan to build homes on a derelict chapel in Cwmbwrla, swansea ...under the plan gravestones less than 50 years are to be moved to a garden of rememberance, the graves will be left untouched.......the older headstones will be broken up and disposed of, unless surviving relatives come forward to object..................MANY GR READERS HAVE LEFT COMMENTS, THESE HAVE NOW BEEN PUBLISHED AND CAN BE VIEWED ON THE LINK BELOW.

I thought that the last grave put there had to have been there for 100 years before they could do that?

In Cairo there is a huge cemetary and if you have a relative buried there you have permission to set up home on that grave. It's just a mass of old blanket tents and corrigated tin sheets. It's called The City of the Living Dead. Next step UK at this rate. how terrible, what are the developers in Swansea thinking Claire

Have just read the story on the newspaper website. I for one would certainly not buy one of those houses and as for making a childrens playground that is just sick. HOW DARE THEY! and it's only for 4 houses anyway. Claire

Have added my fourpennorth, Its the fat man in the DPM's office that responsible for that and a few other cockups. I wouldnt mind betting that there quite a few derelict house's down that way that could be restored as there are in many towns, but someone seems to be going out of their way to upset people, or is this a try on, and if it works they'll build on cemetarys all over the country. Makes you want to spit!!!!! Len

I can assure everyone that people do build on Cemeteries if they are not stopped. Where my Grandma and Grandad were buried was built over in the early 60's by Leeds University and all the gravestones were moved to supposedly to the field at the back of Woodhouse Library. So PLEASE read the article about Swansea and object. Sue
