As Fred said, It smacks of a stitch-up, whats a copper doing with a camera at the ready when the guy is doing 15mph?, if he didn't have the camera ready, did time stop just for him to get ready, theres more to this than meets the eye, 15mph+2' of water doesn't cause a tidal wave, me thinks the worker and copper are being pathetic. Police Traffic cars are equipped with a video camera next to the rear view mirror at the top of the windshield. All the driver has to do is press a button on the dash to start recording.

Right OK Brian that may be the case, but surely, does it warrant 3 points as well,? a fine maybe and damages, yes, ( I know a motorist IS responsible if he splashes pedestrians) That COULD have cost him his job? bob

I think personally that it was very harsh. The guy was doing a minimal speed and lets be honest how many of us have done this intentionally or not?

If they want to fine motorists who are inconsiderate why don't they fine those who park on pavements, forcing pedestrians into the road. Juliexx

In an interview on the radio it was said that it was the motorists attitude when he was stopped that decided that he should be booked..........apparentley he asked if it was now illegal to drive through a puddle.........this did not endear him to the police and he was booked

Just reading this thread again, isn't there supposed to be a warning triangle put up to warn motorists that there is flood water? I know a place locally that floods and leaves huge puddles and there are always warning triangles to let people know the puddles are there. Shouldn't the workman have put a warning up?? I t must have been a huge puddle to splash a workman at 15mph. the workman has risked motorists lives by not erecting a warning???
