Have just driven from herts to northants- journey took extra 3/4 hour due to torrential rain door to door! Held off this afternoon in Amersham though thank goodness. Jess |

Is this the lull before the storm - seems so. The Met Office says: Severe Gales 22:00 2/11/05 to 08:00 3/11/05 Affecting Cornwall + Isles Of Scilly, Devon, Plymouth & Torbay Southerly winds will increase later this evening and overnight, to give gusts 70 to 75 mph. Areas most likely to be affected are southern coastal areas and the high ground of the moors. Drivers are advised to take care. Batten your hatches. |

Tell me about it!!! Have already had the High Street flooded becauses of a 10 minute downpour at lunchtime - things are going to get a lot worse here. Just about to take the dog out while I can. :-)) |

Trish, where are you? It's a bit windy & more cloudy than when I last posted but no rain at the moment. We had a couple of heavy showers during the day but no sign of flooding, the river Tone was at normal level when I left work this afternoon. Have we been extra lucky in Taunton? Vivienne |

The roads from Wheathampstead to Hitchin (Hertfordshire) were flooded at 5pm this evening. Makes for really scarey driving when its dark, persistantly raining and the country roads are flooded!!! Viv |
