I don't know what my alternate name would have been. My son Daniel Domingos would have been Samanta and David Miguel would have been Alicia. As my boys are Portuguese I had to choose names that were Portuguese, although their first names are spelt the same in English they are pronounced differently. Daniel has both his Grandfathers names. I wanted David's second name to be Michael but had to settle for Miguel instead. Lindy:))

It was either Alexandra or Victoria. I say either because if I was named one of those names then Jon would have been named the other. Tsk, parents eh?

My Father had wanted me to be called Roger. My first husband was called that and it has put me off the name for life!! Only kidding to any Rogers out there. Instead my Mums initials are J I L and says she just added another L to make my name. Jill xx:)

I don't know if my parents had an alternative name, probably Pauline lol As for my kids, I have 3 girls Claire, Caroline and Michelle, if they'd have been boys it probably would have been: Stephen (after my deceased brother) John (After my Dad) Martin (just a name I've always liked) If we'd have got to 4 PAUL might have been considered.

Steph

If I had been a boy I would have been Alan David. A friend of my grandma's had a baby girl, when my mum was about 13, and called her Stephanie. My mum liked it so much she vowed her first daughter would be Stephanie. She never got to use Alan, as she had another girl after me, my sister, Lorna, (after the book Lorna Doone)

...and thank goodness my mum had a girl next, because if I had had a brother he would have been called Ernest William, after a grandad, but she was named after my other grandmother - Mary.

ME - if I'd been a boy I was going to be Howard if I was a boy, a bit spooky as my husband had an elder brother of the same name, who died shortly after he was born. My mum wanted to call me Angela or Jessica. Changed her mind as she discovered lots of girls in the maternity ward were going to be Angela and my dad vetoed Jessica and chose Helen (deep irony is that there are hosts of Helens around - I once worked in an office where there were 4 of us!) My brother nearly got called Gordon - but his initials would have been GG! So he's Robert. MY CHILDREN are both boys, but if I'd had a girl, I had lots of names I liked, husband and I had decided on Sian Elizabeth but I also liked Eliza Jane. nell
