I dont believe in the death penalty. Leave him to rot in jail. Don't put him out his misery, let him stay in jail for the rest of his life. Death is too good for people who have done wrong like this. If I had the choice of jail until the end of my days, or being executed, i'd pick death, and I think most people would. This is why I think they should rot in a cell.

I did say 'Convicted Paedophiles'! Sadly, there isnt any way of spotting the unconvicted paedophiles that I know of. As Robert says, there was no legal age of consent to sexual intercourse in this country until the early 1900s. Children as young as 8 were available in Brothels and very few people thought there was much wrong with this. There was no such crime as paedophilia. The age of legal consent to intercourse was fixed at 16 in order to protect younger children - before that, there was no lower limit. I am not condoning what Glitter has done, I think he is a putrid pig, along with all other paedophiles, wherever in the world they are. But it is necessary to remember that other countries have a different 'take' on this, however disgusting WE find it. Olde Crone

As we all know the age of consent was at these levels in Britain in the 19th century. Personally, I would have all convicted paedophiles branded on the forehead with a large 'P'. Chopping off their bits makes no difference to the urge - as a friend of mine said recently and graphically - they still have hands, don't they. We could then teach all children to steer well clear of anyone with a large 'P' on their forehead. I do so hope he goes to a Vietnamese jail - preferably one in some out of the way place, with no modern facilities etc. But it is a sad fact that many countries only pay lip-service to the outrage of paedophilia, countries where women are second-class citizens and children are considered both expendable and a source of income. After all, these girls presumably have parents. Its as pointless to think you can cure paedophilia as it is to think you could turn a heterosexual person into a paedophile. Its all to do with what turns you on, and that is programmed into us at a very early age. So don't waste money on treatment - use the money instead to keep them well out of the way of children. Ex-glam rock star Gary Glitter has been accused of having sex with two girls, one aged 12, police in Vietnam said. Police said the girls, 12 and 18, said in police interviews they had sex with Glitter, 61, at his Vung Tau home. There are conflicting reports as to whether the second girl had turned 18 - the legal age of consent in Vietnam. Glitter, whose real name is Paul Francis Gadd, has not been charged and remains in custody. If convicted he could be jailed for up to 12 years. Roxanne I totally agree with you as I said earlier people who have been found guilty of any crimes involving children whether it be downloading images to preying on children in other ways they should have their passports revoked & be carefully monitored. The news today is that Glitter is being questioned about two underage girls at his home one may or may not have just turned 18 & another 12 years of age, if he is found guilty of offences against these girls Glitter will spend many years (maybe as much as 12 years) in a Vitenam jail. I am sure this will be very unpleasant. Let's hope he doesn't get a chance to be transferred to a British Prison :-((( Pat x

I find it an outrage that these 'low lives' can go to these very poor countries and pay for what they want, there should be more help in stopping these people from preying on these children, it breaks my heart to think what obscenities they have to go through, once a person is found guilty of child abuse(in any form) they should not be allowed out of the country, its bad enough that we have to suffer their presence without inflicting it on other nations.
