But the death of the policewomen was tragic but so is all the other victims that have been killed by gun crime and all other murders including child killing so why have the ex police commisioner sir john stalker come out and have said that the people who have commited this brutal act should be given life and not released until they die and to bring back the death penalty.when sarah payne and holly and jessica were murdered and other victims were killed in a brutal way the police did not react in this way.they did not state that the death penalty should be brought into force and these animals should be given life which means life.shouldn't all murderes face the gallows and to not see daylight again.....that is my view .sorry if this has offendedxxxxxxxx)))):

I'm with you Lisa!! I was rather taken aback when i heard on the news a few minutes ago that they wanted the death penalty for cop killers!!!! Cops are doing their job when they are caught in the line of fire, whereas child killers are true murderers!! Now that would be a real reason for bringing back the death penalty!!! Karen

i do feel for her and her family but i find that it is so different when a police officer is killed the police are up in arms about it which is right but all killers should be treated the same.you cannot have the death penalty for a cop killler and not from an innocent bystander being killed by the maniacs we have on our streets today..like someone said it is there job and there are risks also in other jobs like fighting the war on terrorism in iraq...soldiers are dying everydayxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)))):

I understand what your saying and you have a point, but Its probably something the police have wanted to speak out about for some time, this has given them the opportunity,

Lisa, Don't apologise for your views. You are entitled to air them. I can't see they would offend anyone. I don't agree with the death penalty but if it was ever bought back, which it won't be in this country, I feel it should apply to every murderer. No one life is any more precious than another. I agree with you , Lisa. It`s a bit like soldiers doing their job and when they are killed everyone is up in arms. They choose their jobs. Having never been in the situation maybe we shouldn`t criticise. Rosalyn

Roxanne Report 20 Nov 2005 19:26

Well I think The job they do is dangerous, I certainly wouldent want to do it, and as for soldiers YES!!they choose their jobs, but at the end of the day if we had a war its YOU!they would be protecting, would you die for your country????

Lisa

Lisa Report 20 Nov 2005 19:35

i agree but so are the police..they are doing the same as soldiers..protecting the general public from criminals and there are risks..that is a sad factxxxxxxxxxxxxx))))):

The police always act this way when one of their own is killed. It will be interesting to know why two inexperienced police women were answering a call on their own. although i think iread somewhere that it was not madde clear that the call was regarding a robbery. And no Lisa you don't have to apologise for having an opinion. Ann glos

I don't agree with the death penalty but I do agree with you Lisa that should the death penalty ever come back it should be for all murderers and not just cop-killers
